Dear Colleagues,
In the field of radiopharmaceutical sciences, synthetic strategies have recently emerged for use in the development of novel theranostic tracer pairs, multifunctional and multimodal agents for cancer imaging and treatment. In particular, the use of chemoselective synthesis and rational tracer design has greatly increased the availability of theranostics for preclinical multimodal imaging studies and therapeutic applications. In the field of radiochemistry, a wide variety of labeling methods and the increased availability of positron, (auger) electron, and alpha emitters offer a high variability for the design of innovative multifunctional tracers. Combined with the multimerization approach, the development of hetero- and homomultimers, and the introduction of albumin binders, chelators, and fluorescent dyes, interesting efforts have been made, and the further development of new multifunctional molecules that could be applied to the imaging and imaging-guided therapy of various types of cancer is still warranted. These approaches facilitate PET/CT, multimodal imaging, and cancer therapy in preclinical studies and even clinical trials.
We invite young scientists and principal investigators to submit original research articles as well as review articles that present modern tracer development, such as multifunctional tracers, dealing with preclinical multimodal imaging (PET/CT, PET/optical, etc.), and/or therapy in cancer models.
We are interested in both original and review articles that highlight the current role of tracer development, multimodal imaging, or innovative therapeutic approaches for cancer, thereby facilitating the translation of new tracers into the clinic.
