Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The world of infections in general, and genital infections in particular, has gained enormous interest the last few years due to new insights in the vaginal microbiome, new antibiotic resistance patterns of sexually transmitted infections, the upheaval of microscopy as a diagnostic tool, and new drugs, probiotics, and vaccines to treat or prevent infection or recurrence.

We are pleased to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue of Diagnostics to elucidate some enigmatic and formerly misunderstood associations and diagnostic issues.

We invite you to submit manuscripts with opinions or data improving the diagnostics of genital infections, which we will review and consider for publication in this issue. Papers addressing microscopy, deep AI learning, microbiome research, antibiotic or antimycotic resistance, the composition and physiopathology of vulvovaginal and upper genital tract infections, biomarkers, inflammatory markers, and especially mixed infections are all welcome.

Research papers, opinion papers, reviews (if original), and case studies of special interest will be considered.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Prof. Dr. Gilbert Donders
Guest Editor

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Diagnostics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
