Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The 5th International Symposium on Multimodal Transportation (ISMT 2023) will be held on July 19–21, 2023, in the warm and wonderful city of Dalian, China. It will unite the International Symposium on Multimodal Transportation (ISMT) Organizing Committee and the Multi-modal Transportation Branch, Chinese Society of Optimization, Overall Planning, and Economical Mathematics.

Surrounded by the Yellow Sea, Dalian is one of China's most cosmopolitan cities. Its temperate climate, clean air, and early 20th-century architecture alone attract the attention of international travelers from the region. We are looking forward to our meeting in Dalian, and we are pleased to invite you to attend the 5th International Symposium on Multimodal Transportation (ISMT 2023). The theme of ISMT 2023 is “Intelligent, Resilient, and Connected”. The goal is to provide a forum for high-quality, cutting-edge research in transportation science and technology, covering state-of-the-art topics in transportation, especially in this transitional economic background. Selected full papers will be published in the ISMT Special Issue of the journal Electronics.

The proposed topics include but are not limited to, the following:

  • World trends, changes, and best international practices in intelligent transportation systems;
  • Blockchain technology application in transportation and logistics;
  • Big data analytics in freight transportation;
  • Digital twins in transportation and logistics;
  • Urban mobility modeling and optimization;
  • Connected and autonomous vehicles;
  • Drones and robots in urban logistics delivery systems;
  • Digital transformation in logistics and supply chain management;
  • Integration of freight transport and mobility as a service (Maas);
  • Integrated transportation system;
  • Intermodal freight transport;
  • Traffic control;
  • Intermodal/multimodal transport planning, operations, and management;
  • Shared transportation;
  • Urban transportation service networks;
  • Modeling transportation networks under uncertainty;
  • Electric vehicle planning and scheduling;
  • Emerging technologies for traffic signals.
