Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In the next several years, global trends in the transport sector will continue to drive a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions, fuel consumption, and exhaust emissions from ICE vehicles through the use of hydrogen or electric technology. In turn, from 2025 onwards, the demand among new European car buyers for all-electric vehicles (BEVs), which accounted for around 5% in 2020, is expected to outstrip the demand for other powertrains. This will lead to the transformation of the entire automotive industry, which is one of the pillars of the economy in countries such as Poland, accounting for 8% of GDP and around 13.5% of export value.

Given the importance of the upcoming changes and potential for development in this sector and its transformation towards zero-emission transport, an International Scientific and Technical Symposium on New Mobility has been organised as part of the New Mobility Congress. The main trends and technical solutions related to new mobility will be shared. An international speaker will present the latest technical solutions in the fields of vehicle, battery, infrastructure, and energy technologies, among others, to be implemented in the next several years.

Energies is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal that publishes research on technological developments and engineering policies and management in relation to the general field of energy, from energy supply, conversion, distribution, and end-use technologies to the physical and chemical processes behind these technologies. The organisers of the Symposium have organised a Special Issue of Energies to showcase the technical solutions presented and to encourage researchers to present their theoretical, simulation, and experimental research related to the issue of decarbonisation in transport, electric vehicles and machines, and ICE drives powered by alternative means (e.g., using hydrogen or synthetic fuels). Contributions are also welcome on safety, technology, and engineering solutions for zero-emission vehicles, as well as from experts in the fields of energy, batteries, renewable fuels, zero-emission off-highway machinery, and state-of-the-art solutions. In the case of simulation studies, authors are particularly encouraged to present the results of computational analyses using FEM tools, as well as methods based on equivalent circuit models and other alternatives to FEM studies.

Topics for the Special Issue include the following:

  • Trends and solutions in electric motors;
  • Traction battery trends and solutions;
  • Trends and solutions in the alternative fuel ICE sector;
  • Renewable energy generators;
  • V2X, V2G, V2H, V2P, and V2I solutions;
  • Electrolyzers for hydrogen production;
  • Vehicle systems;
  • New business models and societal trends;
  • Multimodal transport and its environmental impacts;
  • Shared mobility.

We invite you to submit original papers to our Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

Benefits of Publishing in a Special Issue

  • Ease of navigation: Grouping papers by topic helps scholars navigate broad scope journals more efficiently.
  • Greater discoverability: Special Issues support the reach and impact of scientific research. Articles in Special Issues are more discoverable and cited more frequently.
  • Expansion of research network: Special Issues facilitate connections among authors, fostering scientific collaborations.
  • External promotion: Articles in Special Issues are often promoted through the journal's social media, increasing their visibility.
  • e-Book format: Special Issues with more than 10 articles can be published as dedicated e-books, ensuring wide and rapid dissemination.
