Selected Papers from the 3rd Global Land Programme (GLP) Asia Conference: Hazards, Disasters, and Land Science—Towards Asian and Global SDGs for Land Systems

Dear Colleagues,

Many countries and regions are exposed to different kinds of hazards and therefore to hazard risks. The occurrence of many hazard events is unfortunately difficult to predict with our current knowledge.

This Special Issue will highlight issues relating to a wide range of land change research, with special attention to hazards and disasters from geological, hydrological, atmospheric, and biological events/incidents to agricultural, ecological, industrial, and technological malfunctions. Not only climate change but also demographic change and economic change will influence future management strategies and policies regarding hazards/disasters. It is important to discuss hazards and disasters in land science from various aspects, which are strongly related to many of the SDGs. This Special Issue will cover natural and anthropogenic hazards, sustainability, vulnerability, risk management, adaptation and mitigation, awareness, education, and monitoring and modeling of various land systems.

This Special Issue will be composed of selected papers from the 3rd Global Land Programme (GLP) 2020 Asia Conference, which will be held in Sapporo, Japan, on 15–18 September 2020. The conference focuses on hazards, disasters, and land science relating to SDGs in Asian and global contexts.

Papers selected for this Special Issue will be subjected to a rigorous peer-review procedure with the aim of rapid and wide dissemination of research results, developments, and applications in the area of environmental studies.

Manuscript Submission Information

Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Environments is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
