Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has a wide range of applications, including sensors, transportation, the Internet of Things (IoT), and finance. The strong influence of AI has also affected the healthcare industry. This may include the use of AI for medical diagnosis, patient stratification, medical robotics, hospital management, and telemedicine.
While AI has shown promise in healthcare systems, there is still a need for the development of smart healthcare systems that exhibit efficient data analysis, explainability, minimal intervention, and deployability in medical settings. By addressing these issues, AI will be able to drive significant advancements in healthcare efficacy and patient outcomes. It is, therefore, important to conduct research on novel AI methodologies, efficient implementation of advanced technology, and strong use cases.
This Special Issue invites contributions in the form of in-depth fundamental and applied research that aims to address AI advancements and technical challenges in the healthcare domain. Potential topics include, but are not limited to, the following research areas:
- Novel infrastructures and protocols for AI healthcare systems;
- Novel AI methodologies for the analysis of medical imaging datasets;
- Techniques for AI in healthcare management;
- Remote healthcare and patient activity monitoring based on AI and IoT methodologies;
- Design and evaluation of AI and IoT technologies for healthcare automation;
- Explainable AI for medical datasets;
- Novel approaches and emerging real-world applications of AI-enabled IoT in healthcare;
- Efficient AI and IoT data analytics techniques in healthcare;
- Methods and deployment of AI and IoT-enabled healthcare systems.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Future Internet is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
