Pain Management in Biomechanical Pathologies of the Lower Limb throughout the Life Cycle: Multidisciplinary Approaches and Recent Advances

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue will focus on providing a comprehensive overview of how integrative therapy can be an effective tool in the treatment of biomechanical pathologies of the lower limb, addressing both physical aspects, pain management, and functional improvement of patients throughout the life cycle. In this Special Issue, we would like to highlight several key areas related to physical therapy in the treatment of these pathologies and multidisciplinary approaches to treatment. The priority topics include the following:

• Biomechanical and pain assessment: We encourage articles presenting effective methods and tools for assessing biomechanical dysfunctions and pain in patients with various pathologies. Special attention will be given to the identification of risk factors, functional assessment scales, pain intensity scales, and the evaluation of the impact of these dysfunctions and pain on patients' quality of life.
• Physical therapy interventions: Authors are invited to share their experiences and knowledge about the most effective physical therapy interventions for treating biomechanical pathologies and managing pain. This may include manual techniques, therapeutic exercises, use of specific equipment, and innovative rehabilitation approaches.
• Multidisciplinary approach: We recognize the importance of a collaborative approach in the treatment of biomechanical pathologies. Therefore, we are interested in articles describing multidisciplinary care models that involve health professionals from various disciplines working together to improve functional outcomes, pain management, and quality of life for patients, paying special attention to pathologies with significant impacts on the foot such as Diabetes mellitus.
• Emotional and psychosocial aspects: Biomechanical pathologies and pain not only affect the physical body of the patient but also their emotional and psychological well-being. Therefore, we would like to explore how physical therapy can address these aspects, including patient-centered care, pain management education, and emotional support.
• Gender perspectives: Given the growing awareness of gender differences in the experience and treatment of biomechanical pathologies and pain, we would like to include articles that explore these disparities and propose culturally sensitive care strategies.

We are pleased to invite to researchers, physicians, and physical therapy professionals to contribute their original research, systematic reviews, case studies, and perspectives on any of the aforementioned topics. We hope this Special Issue will serve as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and best practices in the treatment of biomechanical pathologies and pain management throughout the life cycle.
