Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In modern implant dentistry, there is a growing need to satisfy a specific combination of biological, mechanical, and aesthetic needs. From a biomechanical point of view, the development of new dental implant systems, using methods based on design software with specialized tools, such as computer-assisted design (CAD), computer-assisted manufacturing (CAM), and computer-aided engineering (CAE), has allowed us to improve the implant design process. In addition, new materials with improved properties in terms of nature and appearance, as well as inertness and biocompatibility, have recently been introduced to meet aesthetic needs. However, above all, there is a need to prevent biological complications, such as peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis, that represent serious future challenges in dental implantology. The maintenance of osteointegration and a prolonged success rate in dental implants can be achived by modifying and reactivating the implant surface to be osteo-inductive and the abutment surface to be antibacterial, as well as by improving the soft tissue integration process to create a stable seal against possible bacterial invasion.

This Special Issue will be dedicated to experimental and clinical studies contributing to the improvement of our knowledge on the current state of art in implant dentistry.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
