The peculiarity of additive manufacturing is that steps are formed on the product surface resulting from the layered building. The steps’ dimensions are determined by the deviations of the real surface from its correct shape specified by 3D model of the product. The orientation of the 3D model of the product in the workspace of the additive machine and the building step are the main factors determining the sizes of the steps. The article presents the results of a statistical analysis of deviations from the correct shape of the product surface obtained by additive manufacturing and based on a 3D model. Industrial products with varying surface complexity were selected as test 3D models. These 3D models were studied in a variety of orientation options in the workspace of the additive machine. Slicing 3D models were used to form a set of layers according to strategies, with a constant and variable step. The obtained results of the statistical analysis allow scientifically substantiated assessment of the efficiency of the joint solution of optimization tasks to determine the slicing parameters and rational orientation of the product in the workspace of an additive machine, depending on its complexity. The PLM concept implies the use of heterogeneous information resources at different stages of the product life cycle, the joint work of which allows the user to effectively solve the problems of product quality and various costs. According to the principle of isomorphism of complex systems’ regularities, an effective PLM system must have these regularities. Unfortunately, this principle is not often fundamental when designing PLM systems. The purpose of this paper is to develop principles, based on the general theory of systems, for the design, operation and use of PLM systems and the implementation on their basis of the educational framework of a PLM system for threaded connections with the possibility of its effective development, research and study. The multi-agent approach to the development of a PLM system provides the necessary prerequisites for the emergence of system-wide regularities in it. The parallel work of agents is implemented using the actor model and the Ray Python-package. Agents for the logical inference of knowledge base facts, CAD/FEA/CAM/SCADA agents, agents for optimization by various methods, and other agents have been developed. Open-source software was used to develop the system. Each agent has relatively simple behavior, implemented by its rule function, and can interact with other agents. The system can work in interactive mode with the user or in automatic mode according to a simple algorithm: the rule functions of all agents are executed until at least one of them returns a value other than None. Examples of the system operation are given and system-wide regularities such as emergence, historicity and self-organization are demonstrated in it. Full article

Water hydraulic components and systems play pivotal roles in the development of modern hydraulics. Sustainable development and environmental protection cannot be imagined without the use of water as a working medium in modern hydraulic systems. An axial piston pump is the main component of these systems. This paper presents analytical and experimental methods for the development of an axial piston pump. The presented mathematical model is rooted in numerous research results in the literature and in our own experience. It is based on mathematical modelling of hydrodynamic processes of a water hydraulic axial piston pump which, combined with experimental research, provides a great tool to analyse the influence of different factors on the operating process and to optimise the pump parameters. The experimental equipment used in our tests simulates a real hydraulic installation, and the obtained results are very close to the actual operating parameters. This research included a modification of the swash plate in order to achieve ideal operating parameters and, thus, extend the service life of the pump. Water has a number of advantages over conventional hydraulic oils. It is a sustainable, environmentally friendly resource, more readily available than oil (lower transportation costs), cheaper to dispose of, non-flammable and non-toxic, and its high thermal conductivity aids in cooling.
