Tools for Machining and Forming: Novel Materials and Wear Behaviour

Dear Colleagues,

Machining and forming processes ensure a high level of accuracy and quality of surface finish. The wear phenomena linked to the tools used in these processes are well known. Surface treatments and coatings have been extensively used to extend the useful life of tools. Different tool materials have been studied and tested to this end. Research into wear phenomena and materials that can ensure greater tool longevity remains very active. This Special Issue aims to bring together work related to the study of materials and coatings, with a view to increasing the useful life of tools. Other work related to machining and forming is also welcome.

Manuscript Submission Information

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
