Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The rapid advancement of computer vision has been one of a set of artificial-intelligence-oriented technologies to emphasize changes beyond personal computing and the internet. Various intelligent models have been developed for solving practical problems in different applications, including, but not limited to, security purposes, human activity recognition, agriculture analysis, medical diagnoses, VR and AR environments, etc. In such applications, diverse types of data need to be captured and processed with high accuracy and in a real-time manner. To address these challenges, the development of novel high-performance techniques for the capture of high-dimensional data is highly desirable, employing recent advances in deep learning. With the development of GPU technology and certain other parallel computing platforms, the analysis and processing of big data sets are contributing significant advances in computer vision and deep learning. In many domains, deep learning has drastically outperformed traditional methods and overtaken them to become the method of choice. However, there is a critical need for the development of advanced computer vision and deep learning methods for the next generation of computing, robotic and artificial intelligence systems.
The purpose of our Special Issue is to contribute to the demonstration of innovative techniques and applications in computer vision and deep learning to solve practical tasks in various research domains. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Novel computer vision and machine learning methods and algorithms;
- Deep learning algorithms and architectures, including deep generative models;
- Visual quality assessment with computer vision and deep learning;
- Deep learning model for data fusion;
- The application of artificial intelligence and machine learning models in various domains, such as smart health, cities and factories;
- Deep learning for the analysis of digital multimodal biometric and forensics data;
- Artificial intelligence and machine learning for computer vision (e.g., object classification, detection, segmentation and/or recognition);
- Deep learning and machine learning in robotics and automation applications (e.g., perception, control, planning, navigation, inspection, manipulation and grasping).
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Mathematics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
