Plant Microbiome: Pioneering Microbiome-Driven Strategies for Climate-Resilient Agriculture

Dear Colleagues,

The rapid acceleration of climate change poses a significant threat to global ecosystems, agriculture, and biodiversity. As a result, there is a pressing need to explore sustainable and nature-based solutions to mitigate its impacts. Plant microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi, and archaea, play an essential role in enhancing plant growth, improving soil health, and reducing the emission of greenhouse gases.

This Special Issue of Microorganisms will focus on the potential of plant-associated microorganisms as powerful allies in climate change mitigation efforts. We invite you to submit research articles and comprehensive reviews related to the mechanisms through which plant microorganisms contribute to carbon sequestration, reduce methane and nitrous oxide emissions, enhance nutrient cycling, and promote soil resilience under changing environmental conditions. Contributions that explore the development of microbial inoculants and their applications in sustainable agriculture and reforestation practices are also encouraged. By examining the symbiotic relationships between plants and microorganisms, this Special Issue will provide innovative insights into how these microbial communities can be harnessed to address climate-related challenges, improve agricultural productivity, and promote ecosystem health.

The research presented will contribute to advancing knowledge of microbial ecology, environmental microbiology, and climate change solutions.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
