Methods and Protocols for Plant Proteomics and Interactomics

Dear Colleagues,

Plant and food science have become critical research fields as the world faces the growing challenges of food insecurity and malnutrition. For several decades now, plant proteomics has been an essential discovery tool for plant scientists to improve crops’ productivity and enhance their nutritional value. However, as technology and methodology keep evolving at a fast pace in biomedical research, the field of plant proteomics continually faces new and unique challenges resulting from: the complexity of plant cells and structures; the diversity of plant species and the lack of genome sequencing; and the high content of photosynthetic and storage proteins. Additional efforts must also be exerted to study the next level of proteomics at the sub-cellular and molecular level. The aim of this Special Issue is to propose new methods and protocols that allow the deeper mining of plant proteomes and develop our understanding of plant adaptation mechanisms and nutritional content. The data that this Special Issue aims to collect should include new sample preparation approaches used to study plant proteomics. Potential topics include, but are not limited to: protein–protein interactions, protein–metabolite interactions, subcellular mapping, and low-abundance proteins.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Methods and Protocols is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
