2012 Nutrients received its first Impact Factor (0.676).
2013 The Impact Factor increased to 2.072.
2014 The Impact Factor increased to 3.148.
2015 The Impact Factor increased to 3.270.
Nutrients published its 1,000th paper.
The Nutrition Society of New Zealand (NSNZ) and the Australasian Section—American Oil Chemists Society (AAOCS) became affiliated to Nutrients.
2016 The Impact Factor increased to 3.759.
The Asia Pacific Nutrigenomics Nutrigenetics Organisation (APNNO) became affiliated to Nutrients.
2017 Nutrients received its 2016 Impact Factor (3.550).
The Italian Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (SIGENP) became affiliated to Nutrients.
2018 Nutrients received its 2017 Impact Factor (4.196), ranked 18/81 (Q1) in "Nutrition & Dietetics".
Nutrients published its 5,000th paper.
The Nutrition Society of Australia (NSA) and the International Chair for Advanced Studies on Hydration (CIEAH) became affiliated to Nutrients.
2019 Nutrients received its 2018 Impact Factor (4.171), ranked 16/86 (Q1) in "Nutrition & Dietetics".
Nutrients held the first international conference Nutrients 2019 - Nutritional Advances in the Prevention and Management of Chronic Disease, in Barcelona, Spain, 25‒27 September 2019.
The subject areas were refined to 13 sections.
The European Sport Nutrition Society (ESNS) and the Spanish Society of Community Nutrition (SENC) became affiliated to Nutrients.

2021 Nutrients received its 2020 Impact Factor (5.717), ranked 17/89 (Q1) in "Nutrition & Dietetics".
The Spanish Nutrition Foundation (FEN) and the Ocular Wellness & Nutrition Society (OWNS) became affiliated to Nutrients.
Nutrients established the following sections:

  • Carbohydrates;

2023 Nutrients received its 2022 Impact Factor (5.9), ranked 17/88 (Q1) in "Nutrition & Dietetics".
The Nutrition Society of Australia (NSA) is no longer affiliated to Nutrients.
Hydration was discontinued.
2024 Nutrients received its 2023 Impact Factor (4.8), ranked 18/114 (Q1) in "Nutrition & Dietetics".
Nutrients will hold the forth electronic international conference—Plant-Based Nutrition Focusing on Innovation, Health, and Sustainable Food Systems, 16–18 October 2024.
Nutrients established the following section:
