Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Uncontrolled maternal glucose concentrations during pregnancy increase the risk of maternal and neonatal complications, such as macrosomia, neonatal hypoglycaemia and emergency caesarean. Nutrition therapy is frontline for the clinical management of gestational diabetes; however, because the universal testing and treatment of gestational diabetes is fairly new, the strategies and approaches used in clinical practice lack evidence, are not universal, and thus are a priority area for further research.
In this context, a Special Issue summarising recent data and findings on the impact and role nutrition approaches and dietary patterns play in improving outcomes for women and their offspring is important to help inform further research and clinical practice in the management of gestational diabetes.
Our ambition is to provide new insights for therapy and highlight effective approaches to nutritional management. We encourage authors to submit their original research on this attractive topic. An up-to-date review article investigating or describing nutrition or dietary aspects for gestational diabetes will fit well in this Special Issue. Any other suggestions from experts in the field are more than welcome.
