Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The field of pharmaceutical drug delivery has seen remarkable advancements through the innovative use of polymers. This Special Issue of Pharmaceutics is dedicated to exploring the critical role polymers play in the development and optimization of drug delivery systems. Polymers offer versatile functionalities that can enhance the stability, bioavailability, and targeted delivery of therapeutic agents.

Research topics to be covered in this Special Issue include the following: polymer-based nanocarriers, advances in the design and application of polymeric nanoparticles, micelles, and dendrimers for efficient drug delivery, biodegradable polymers, development of biodegradable and biocompatible polymers for controlled and sustained release of drugs, smart polymers, innovations in stimuli-responsive polymers that release drugs in response to specific physiological triggers such as pH, temperature, or enzymes, polymer–drug conjugates, strategies for conjugating drugs to polymers to improve solubility, stability, and targeted delivery, hydrogels and nanogels, utilization of hydrogels and nanogels in drug delivery for their high water content and tunable properties, and polymer blends and composites, as well as the exploration of polymer blends and composites to create multifunctional drug delivery systems with enhanced properties.

This Special Issue invites researchers to contribute original research articles, reviews, and case studies that highlight the latest scientific and technological breakthroughs in the use of polymers in drug delivery. By showcasing these advancements, we aim to foster a deeper understanding and drive further innovation in this dynamic field.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Pharmaceuticals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
