Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Current agricultural systems require the implementation of sustainable control measures to reduce the damage caused by pests. Deployment of resistant cultivars provides an ideal pest control method, given its reduced or null impact on the environment and economic benefits to farmers. Incorporating pest resistance in elite cultivars through breeding is both technically challenging and time-consuming. Next to breeding induction of resistance becomes an important tool in integrated pest management. Current technologies including high-throughput sequencing and phenotyping, gene editing, and the development of unique model systems combined with interdisciplinary research in genetics, behavior, physiology, and biochemistry, provide numerous possibilities to explore interactions between plants and pests in unprecedented detail. Additionally, it provides knowledge and tools to facilitate breeding for future pest-resistant cultivars, as well as practical applications of induced resistance.

In connection with the 25th IPRI workshop (https://ipri25.com/), which will be held between 31 May–2 June 2022 in Malmö, Sweden, we are pleased to announce this call for papers for a Special Issue ‘Recent trends to Insect Pests’. The Special Issue will cover the results of the latest original research related to the topics: 1) plant–arthropod interactions; 2) mechanisms of resistance; 3) breeding for resistance; and 4) phenotyping methodologies.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
