Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Energy is an indispensable cornerstone of social development, and its demand is ever-increasing with the development of the economy. Nowadays, the scarcity of fossil energy resources, severe environmental pollution, and the low-carbon transition of the energy structure are common issues for the international community. To alleviate the above-mentioned problems, countries worldwide are vigorously developing renewable energies, researching advanced materials, increasing fossil fuels’ utilization efficiency, and improving energy system performance. Considering the large amount of low- and medium-grade heat that exists in renewable energies and industrial fields, many technologies, such as the Kalina cycle, the osmotic heat engine, the trilateral flash cycle, the organic Rankine cycle, absorption refrigeration, and the thermoelectric generator, are potential choices.

This Special Issue will focus on waste heat power generation and comprehensive utilization, efficient waste heat recovery devices, advanced thermal management technology, clean and efficient industrial production and innovation, and other scientific and technological research. It will include research on experiments, simulations, and theoretical analyses of waste heat recovery in steel, chemicals, power, pulp and paper, oil and gas processing, etc. Additionally, with the enormous progress in computer science, artificial intelligence technology is being employed in this field.

We invite submissions to this Special Issue to collect the latest developments and applications on Innovations in Waste Heat Recovery in Industrial Processes in different fields. Original research and review articles are welcome.

Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Waste heat power generation technologies;
  • Waste heat comprehensive utilization;
  • High-efficient waste heat recovery device design;
  • Advanced thermal management for industrial processes, such as steel and chemicals;
  • Clean and efficient industrial production and innovation;
  • Advanced thermodynamic systems for waste heat recovery;
  • Carbon reduction potential and sustainability analysis for waste heat recovery.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
