Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Sustainable electrical engineering is crucial for addressing global energy challenges, especially with the urgency of climate change. This field focuses on designing technologies that minimize environmental impact while maximizing efficiency and reliability. Integrating renewable energy sources like solar and wind into existing electrical systems aims to create a cleaner energy landscape. The significance of this research extends beyond environmental benefits and includes economic and social dimensions. Transitioning to sustainable energy can reduce reliance on fossil fuels, lower costs, and create jobs in green technologies while enhancing resilience against energy shortages. As nations pursue climate agreements, sustainable electrical engineering’s role becomes increasingly vital, contributing to ecological sustainability and a robust energy future for future generations.

This Special Issue explores advancements in sustainable electrical engineering, highlighting research addressing climate change and energy transition through renewable technologies, smart grids, and energy-efficient practices. Fostering interdisciplinary collaboration will present innovative solutions and methodologies that enhance sustainability. This aligns with the journal’s scope, promoting electrical engineering practices focused on environmental stewardship and resource efficiency and encouraging dialog on the socio-economic implications of transitioning to greener energy systems.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Renewable Energy Integration;
  • Smart Grids and Energy Management;
  • Energy Storage Solutions;
  • Energy Efficiency in Buildings;
  • Electric Vehicles and Charging Infrastructure;
  • Microgrids and Decentralized Energy Systems;
  • Policy and Regulation for Sustainable Energy;
  • Environmental Impact Assessments;
  • Education and Workforce Development;
  • Intelligent Software Solutions for Sustainable Energy Management.

I look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
