Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

It is our pleasure to announce a new Special Issue of Sustainability, entitled “Pro-environmental Behavior and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Disclosure in Sustainable Business Management”. Original empirical studies and review articles are welcome.

Today, most corporations pay attention to ESG initiatives, and most companies report the positive sides and ignore negative sides of their stories. This leads to issues of selected disclosure; hence, it is important to report those ESG initiatives that have material and high-impact outcomes without hesitation. Ultimately, this approach improves corporate transparency and gains the trust of various stakeholders. Pro-environmental behavior is one of the most reported initiatives in the ESG reports. Yet, the question of how to detect “green washing” remains. Additionally, should corporations seek to avoid “green washing” when reporting on their pro-environmental efforts? Is “green washing” even an effective strategy? What are the incentives for corporations engaged in “green washing”? Corporations have become accustomed to reporting their intent to put into practice more sustainability initiatives, but what is actually implemented successfully could be another story.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome and research areas may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Pro-environmental behavior;
  • Corporate social responsibility;
  • Business ethics;
  • ESG reporting;
  • Authenticity of sustainability reporting;
  • Sustainable development goals;
  • Green washing;
  • ESG ratings;
  • ESG performance.

I look forward to receiving your contributions.
