Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue, "Sustainable Tourism Innovation: Navigating Challenges and Building Resilience," seeks to explore the integration of sustainability in tourism through innovative practices. It covers a wide range of topics, including, but not limited to, sustainable business models, technological advancements, policy development, and community engagement in the tourism industry. This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive overview of how innovation can address environmental, social, and economic challenges in tourism, thereby contributing to long-term resilience and sustainability.

Purpose:

The primary purpose of this Special Issue is to bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical application in the realm of sustainable tourism. By highlighting cutting-edge research and case studies, the issue aims to inspire stakeholders in the tourism sector to adopt innovative strategies that promote sustainability. Additionally, it seeks to foster interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals to enhance the resilience of tourism destinations against global challenges such as climate change, over-tourism, and economic fluctuations.

Relationship to Other Literature:

This Special Issue builds upon the existing literature on sustainable tourism by emphasizing innovation as a critical driver for achieving sustainability goals. It extends the work of previous studies that have examined the impacts of tourism on environmental and socio-economic systems by introducing novel solutions and frameworks for sustainable practices. By integrating insights from recent advancements in technology, policy, and community-based approaches, this Special Issue provides a holistic perspective that aligns with the current global sustainability agendas, such as the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In summary, this Special Issue aims to advance the discourse on sustainable tourism by emphasizing the role of innovation in overcoming current challenges and fostering resilience, thereby contributing to a more sustainable future for the tourism industry.
