Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Sustainable supply chain operations management (SCOM) has gained increasing relevance balancing economic performance with environmental and social responsibility in organizations. Organizations are facing increasing pressure from regulators, consumers, and stakeholders to adopt more sustainable practices leading to the emergence of new key trends. These trends include the adoption of circular economy principles, green logistics, regulatory compliance report, and digital transformation by adopting emerging technologies. Technologies such as IoT and blockchain allow secure interactions between players that can be spread across the world, enabling operation tracking and on-time decisions for efficient management. Managing a sustainable supply chain is therefore complex, expensive, and requires collaboration amongst stakeholders and engaged employees. Integrating sustainability into supply chain organizations can simultaneously meet regulatory requirements and contribute positively to the environment and society, ensuring long-term success and resilience.

This Special Issue aims to seek out high-quality articles from industry-related scholars and researchers in the areas of supply chain and operations management that offer insights on sustainable development. We are interested in publishing articles that address the new trends in SCOM, namely circular economy, green logistics, digital transformation, risk awareness, and resilience. The application of best practices in business or new business models are welcome and should be shown, discussed, and analyzed. Potential topics include, but are not limited to, logistics, operations, distribution, production, transportation, digitalization, regulatory compliance, and circular economy.
