This paper introduces fractional Brownian motion into the study of Maxwell nanofluids over a stretching surface. Nonlinear coupled spatial fractional-order energy and mass equations are established and solved numerically by the finite difference method with Newton’s iterative technique. The quantities of physical interest are graphically presented and discussed in detail. It is found that the modified model with fractional Brownian motion is more capable of explaining the thermal conductivity enhancement. The results indicate that a reduction in the fractional parameter leads to thinner thermal and concentration boundary layers, accompanied by higher local Nusselt and Sherwood numbers. Consequently, the introduction of a fractional Brownian model not only enriches our comprehension of the thermal conductivity enhancement phenomenon but also amplifies the efficacy of heat and mass transfer within Maxwell nanofluids. This achievement demonstrates practical application potential in optimizing the efficiency of fluid heating and cooling processes, underscoring its importance in the realm of thermal management and energy conservation. Vortex-induced vibration (VIV) is the periodic motion of a bluff body caused by fluid flow and is widely discussed in the engineering field. With the advancement of science and technology, miniaturization and integration have become the mainstream trends in biomedical chips and electronic systems, resulting in higher heat dissipation requirements per unit area. Therefore, the improvement of the heat dissipation effect of movable structures in the flow channel has been widely discussed. Among them, adding VIV motion in the microchannel generates a vortex structure, which improves heat transfer efficiency. Different from the direct displacement method of active vibration, the passive displacement of VIV is a multi-physics problem. It needs to integrate the flow field and the spring-mass system of the object for fluid–solid coupling, which greatly increases the difficulty of analysis. In this study, the Immersed-boundary method (IBM) combined with the equation of motion is used to numerically study a vortex generator that is elastically installed in a microfluidic channel and is then used to enhance the convective heat transfer of nanofluids in the channel. Unlike the common body-fitted mesh, IBM greatly reduces the computational resources required for mesh regeneration when simulating the problem of object movement in fluid–structure interaction. In addition, Buongiorno’s two-phase mixing model is used to simulate the convective heat transfer of nanofluids in microchannels by considering the Brownian motion and thermophoretic diffusion of nanoparticles in the carrier liquid. By changing the important parameters such as nanofluid concentration, Reynolds number, mass ratio, and Ur, the influence of the response characteristics of vortex-induced vibration on the heat flow field in the microfluidic channel is discussed, and the key factors for enhancing heat transfer are found out. Exploration related to chemical processes in nanomaterial flows contains astonishing features. Nanoparticles have unique physical and chemical properties, so they are continuously used in almost every field of nanotechnology and nanoscience. The motive behind this article is to investigate the Cross nanofluid model along with its chemical processes via auto catalysts, inclined magnetic field phenomena, heat generation, Brownian movement, and thermophoresis phenomena over a symmetric shrinking (stretching) wedge. The transport of heat via nonuniform heat sources/sinks, the impact of thermophoretic diffusion, and Brownian motion are considered. The Buongiorno nanofluid model is used to investigate the impact of nanofluids on fluid flow. Modeled PDEs are transformed into ODEs by utilizing similarity variables and handling dimensionless ODEs numerically with the adoption of MATLAB’s developed bvp4c technique. This software performs a finite difference method that uses the collocation method with a three-stage LobattoIIIA strategy. Obtained outcomes are strictly for the case of a symmetric wedge. The velocity field lessens due to amplification in the magneto field variable. Fluid temperature is amplified through the enhancement of Brownian diffusion and the concentration field improves under magnification in a homogeneous reaction effect. Full article

This research investigated the flow and heat mass transmission of a thermal Buongiorno nanofluid film caused by an unsteady stretched sheet. The movement of the nanoparticles through the thin film layer is caused by the strength of the heat flow and the stretching force of the sheet working together. The thermal thin-film flow and heat mechanism, and the properties of mass transfer along the film layer, were comprehensively investigated. The consequences of the heat generation, magnetic field, and dissipation phenomenon were also thoroughly examined. Using appropriate dimensionless variables, the fundamental time-dependent equations of thin film nanofluid flow and heat mass transfer were modeled and converted to the ordinary differential equations system. Mathematica version 12 is the software that was used to build the numerical code here. Next, the shooting technique was applied to numerically solve the transformed equations. The elegance of the shooting technique and evidence of the consistency, dependability, and precision of our acquired results is that the results are more effective than those for the thin film nanofluid equations that are now available. There is a significant degree of consistency between the recently calculated results and the results that have been published for a limiting condition. Investigations were conducted into the effects of a variety of parameters on the flow of nanoliquid films, including the Nusselt number, skin friction, and Sherwood number. In addition, a detailed overview of the physical embedded parameters is provided through graphs and tables. However, the important features of the most relevant outcomes are the effects of higher porous and unsteadiness parameters on minimizing the thickness of the thin film; and the viscoelastic parameter has the reverse effect. Additionally, it is seen that the temperature profile improves as a result of higher thermophoresis and Brownian motion parameter values. Full article

The study of rotating-disk heat-flow problems is relevant to computer storage devices, rotating machineries, heat-storage devices, MHD rotators, lubrication, and food-processing devices. Therefore, this study investigated the effects of a Hall current and motile microorganisms on nanofluid flow generated by the spinning of a disk under multiple slip and thermal radiation conditions. The Buongiorno model of a nonhomogeneous nanofluid under Brownian diffusion and thermophoresis was applied. Using the Taylor series, the effect of Resseland radiation was linearized and included in the energy equation. By implementing the appropriate transformations, the governing partial differential equations (PDEs) were simplified into a two-point ordinary boundary value problem. The classical Runge–Kutta dependent shooting method was used to find the numerical solutions, which were validated using the data available in the literature. The velocity, motile microorganism distribution, temperature, and concentration of nanoparticles were plotted and comprehensively analyzed. Moreover, the density number, Sherwood number, shear stresses, and Nusselt number were calculated. The radial and tangential velocity declined with varying values of magnetic numbers, while the concentration of nanoparticles, motile microorganism distribution, and temperature increased. There was a significant reduction in heat transfer, velocities, and motile microorganism distribution under the multiple slip conditions. The Hall current magnified the velocities and reduced the heat transfer. Thermal radiation improved the Nusselt number, while the thermal slip conditions reduced the Nusselt number. Full article

Conventional liquids have poor thermal conductivity, thus limiting their use in engineering. Therefore, scientists and researchers have created nanofluids, which consist of nanoparticles dispersed in a base fluid, to improve heat transfer properties in various fields, such as electronics, medicine, and molten metals. In this study, we examine the micropolar nanofluid flow in a stagnation region of a stretching/shrinking sheet by employing the modified Buongiorno nanofluid model. The nanofluid consists of magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles. The similarity equations are solved numerically using MATLAB software. The solution is unique for the shrinking strength λ1. Two solutions are found for the limited range of λ when λc<λ<1. The solutions terminate at λ=λc in the shrinking region. The rise in micropolar parameter K contributes to the increment in the skin friction coefficient Rex1/2Cf and the couple stress RexMw, but the Nusselt number Rex1/2Nux and the Sherwood number Rex1/2Shx decrease. These physical quantities intensify with the rise in the magnetic parameter M. Finally, we investigated the stability of the solutions over time. This work contributes to the dual solution and time stability analysis of the current problem. In addition, critical values of the main physical parameters are also presented. These critical values are usually known as the separation values from laminar to turbulent boundary layer flows. In this case, once the critical value is achieved, the process for the specific product can be planned according to the desired output to optimize the productivity. Full article

Nanotechnology is a fundamental component of modern technology. Researchers have concentrated their efforts in recent years on inventing various algorithms to increase heat transmission rates. Using nanoparticles in host fluids to dramatically improve the thermal properties of ordinary fluids is one way to address this problem. The article deals with the bio-convective Walter’s B nanofluid with thermophoresis and Brownian diffusion through a cylindrical disk under artificial neural networks (ANNs). In addition, the thermal conductivity, radiation, and motile density of microorganisms are taken into consideration. The Buongiorno model is utilized to investigate the properties of nanofluids in motile microorganisms. By using appropriate similarity variables, a dimensionless system of a differential system is attained. The non-linear simplified system of equations has been numerically calculated via the Runge–Kutta fourth-order shooting process. The consequences of flow parameters on the velocity field, temperature distribution, species volumetric concentration, and microorganism fields are all addressed. Two distinct artificial neural network models were produced using numerical data, and their prediction performance was thoroughly examined. It is noted that according to the error histograms, the ANN model’s training phase has very little error. Furthermore, mean square error values calculated for local Nusselt number, local Sherwood number, and local motile density number, parameters were obtained as 3.58×103, 1.24×103, and 3.55×105, respectively. Both artificial neural network models can predict with high accuracy, according to the findings of the calculated performance parameters. Full article

This comparative research investigates the influence of a flexible magnetic flux and a chemical change on the freely fluid motion of a (MHD) magneto hydrodynamic boundary layer incompressible nanofluid across an exponentially expanding sheet. Water and ethanol are used for this analysis. The temperature transmission improvement of fluids is described using the Buongiorno model, which includes Brownian movement and thermophoretic distribution. The nonlinear partial differential equalities governing the boundary layer were changed to a set of standard nonlinear differential equalities utilizing certain appropriate similarity transformations. The bvp4c algorithm is then used to tackle the transformed equations numerically. Fluid motion is slowed by the magnetic field, but it is sped up by thermal and mass buoyancy forces and thermophoretic distribution increases non-dimensional fluid temperature resulting in higher temperature and thicker boundary layers. Temperature and concentration, on the other hand, have the same trend in terms of the concentration exponent, Brownian motion constraint, and chemical reaction constraint. Furthermore, The occurrence of a magnetic field, which is aided by thermal and mass buoyancies, assists in the enhancement of heat transmission and wall shear stress, whereas a smaller concentration boundary layer is produced by a first-order chemical reaction and a lower Schmidt number. The bioconvection phenomenon, through the utilization of nanomaterials, has recently encountered significant technical and manufacturing applications. Bioconvection has various applications in bio-micro-systems due to the improvement it brings in mixing and mass transformation, which are crucial problems in several micro-systems. The present investigation aims to explore the bioconvection phenomenon in magneto-nanofluid flow via free convection along an inclined stretching sheet with useful characteristics of viscous dissipation, constant heat flux, solutal, and motile micro-organisms boundary conditions. The flow analysis is addressed based on the Buongiorno model with the integration of Brownian motion and thermophoresis diffusion effects. The governing flow equations are changed into ordinary differential equations by means of appropriate transformation; they were solved numerically using the Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg integration scheme shooting technique. The influence of all the sundry parameters is discussed for local skin friction coefficient, local Nusselt number, local Sherwood number, and local density of the motile micro-organisms number. This paper studied the cooling performance of a hot electronic chip using nanofluids (NF) mixed convection, implementing Buongiorno’s model of the NF simulation. The NF were assumed water-Al2O3 nanoparticles (NP) in the range of 0 to 4% of volume concentration. Six different problems of the combinations of three internal hot blocks, including triangular, square, and circular geometries, and two porous media, including sand and compact metallic powder, were numerically solved. To discretize the governing equations, a finite control volume method was applied. As most of the proposed correlations for the thermophysical properties of the NF were inaccurate, especially for thermal conductivity, a new predictive correlation was proposed using the multi-variable regression method with acceptable accuracy. It was found that the cooling performance improved with any increase in the NP loading. A higher nanoparticle concentration yielded better cooling characteristics, which was 11.93% for 4% volume. The sand porous medium also yielded a much higher value of the normalized Nusselt number (Nu) compared to the other medium. The entropy generation (EG) enhancement was maximum for the triangular hot block in a sand porous cavity. Full article

In recent decades, an interest has been developed towards the thermal consequences of nanofluid because of utilization of nano-materials to improve the thermal conductivity of traditional liquid and subsequently enhance the heat transportation phenomenon. Following this primarily concept, this current work investigates the thermal developed flow of third-grade nanofluid configured by a stretched surface with additional features of activation energy, viscous dissipation and second-order slip. Buongiorno’s nanofluid model is used to explore the thermophoresis and Brownian motion features based on symmetry fundamentals. It is further assumed that the nanoparticles contain gyrotactic microorganisms, which are associated with the most fascination bioconvection phenomenon. The flow problem owing to the partial differential equations is renovated into dimensional form, which is numerically simulated with the help of bvp4c, by using MATLAB software. The aspects of various physical parameters associated to the current analysis are graphically examined against nanoparticles’ velocity, temperature, concentration and gyrotactic microorganisms’ density distributions. Further, the objective of local Nusselt number, local Sherwood number and motile density number are achieved numerically with variation of various parameters. The results presented here may find valuable engineering applications, like cooling liquid metals, solar systems, power production, solar energy, thermal extrusion systems cooling of machine equipment, transformer oil and microelectronics. The present study gives a remedy for the malign tissues, cells, or clogged arteries of the heart by means of permeating a slim tube (i.e., catheter) in the body. The tiny size gold particles drift in free space of catheters having flexible walls with couple stress fluid. To improve the efficiency of curing and speed up the process, activation energy has been added to the process. The modified Arrhenius function and Buongiorno model, respectively, moderate the inclusion of activation energy and nanoparticles of gold. The effects of chemical reaction and activation energy on peristaltic transport of nanofluids are also taken into account. The current work examines the effects of a bottom trapezoidal solid body and a magnetic field on mixed convection in a lid-driven square cavity. The Al 2 O 3 -water nanofluid used is assumed to obey Buongiorno’s two-phase model. An isothermal heater is placed on the bottom base of the trapezoid solid body, while the cavity’s vertical walls are kept cold at temperature T c . The top moving wall and the remaining portions of the cavity’s bottom wall are thermally insulated. The Galerkin weighted residual finite element method is employed to solve the dimensionless governing equations. The parameters of interest are the Richardson number ( 0.01 R i 100 ), Hartmann number ( 0 H a 50 ) , nanoparticle volume fraction ( 0 ϕ 0.04 ), and the length of the bottom base of the trapezoidal solid body. The obtained results show that increasing the Richardson number or decreasing the Hartmann number tends to increase the heat transfer rate. In addition, both the thermophoresis and Brownian motion greatly improve the convection heat transfer. It is believed that the current work is a good contribution to many engineering applications such as building design, thermal management of solar energy systems, electronics and heat exchange.
