Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The paper is devoted to the presentation of the conjoint study about online learning styles during the COVID 19 pandemic situation. The questionnaire research with 230 engineering students from Mapua University is discussed. The research is oriented to the students approaches and meanings to the online learning tool used during the COVID 19 pandemic situation.

I have following remarks to the paper:

     1.       On the page 2 row 62 is used the abbreviation SEQuRe. What does it mean?

2. On the page 3 row 127 is written that the authors used questionnaire. How many questions were used? There exists the possibility to formulate the questions in the part 2.1 or to write them in the appendix of the paper.

3.   On the page 12 is written “The UOx is offered as fully asynchronous online 330 learning throughout the program, while the Blended mode is a mix of bichronous or synchronous online sessions and face-to-face classes. “ It is not clear, what does it mean the abbreviation UOx and which kind of teaching is it? Blended learning is official term for kind of teaching. Which is the difference between blended learning and blended mode?

4.  On the page 12 row 320-321 is written “Cahyani et al. [41] mentioned that internet connection and network issues are challenges in blended online learning”. This sentence is general, please specify, which kind of challenges do you mean?

5. On the page 12 row 324 is written, that “…. students prefer that online exams should not be proctored “. I dint understand, why? I have experience with tests through Moodle. It is possible to make a bank of tasks for students and Moodle can randomly select every test for every student. I think this kind of testing can eliminate cheating. Has Mapua University some experience with Moodle testing?

6. On the page 12 row 343 is written about “Coursera” course. I haven’t experience with this kind of course (see https://www.coursera.org/). What was specific for usage of this kind of courses at the Mapua University?

7.   In the part Conclusion (page 13 row 377) is possible to add some educational recommendations for university teachers oriented to usage of the online learning tools. It is possible to use for it the part 3.3. Practical implications (page 12 row 347). It is also possible to introduce some ideas of further research.

To improve their work, I suggest.

1.      Includes in the abstract section the most relevant results and a paragraph with the limitations of this research and future work.

2.      Check the English grammar and spelling of the entire paper.

3.      Improve the resolution and quality of figure 1.

4.      Further explain the graph and the method.

5.      Select the tables that contain the most important information of the research, the rest of the information and analysis can be placed in a dataset.

6.      To make your research more impactful, place the study data and analysis in a dataset; you can create one at https://data.mendeley.com/.

7.      Improve the discussion section by comparing your contributions with other authors.

8.      Reinforce the conclusions section.

9.      Update the references of the 41 references 46.3% are out of the five years of validity.
