Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The increasing prevalence of eating disorders among children and adolescents worldwide, encompassing conditions such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, avoidance/restrictive food intake disorders, other specified feeding or eating disorders, and orthorexia nervosa, is deeply troubling. To confront this challenge, our Special Issue aims to gather cutting-edge research, methodologies, and perspectives from diverse fields to deepen our understanding of eating disorders in this demographic. We welcome submissions examining how cultural, societal, intra- and interpersonal factors, both protective and risk-related, shape eating disorders among youth and their resulting consequences. Empirical studies, reviews, and meta-analyses focused on reducing the risk of eating disorders in young individuals and proposing practical applications for researchers, clinicians, and policymakers are encouraged. We expect that this Special Issue of Behavioral Sciences will emphasize the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in advancing our understanding of eating disorders in youth and the strategies employed to address them.
