Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In this paper, Chengshang Chen and et al. demonstrated a variety of vortex-lattice structures via multiple-beam inferences. Their results demonstrated a novel approach to generate vortex arrays via simply utilizing a stencil mask having multiple apertures and a spiral phase plate. I think this approach is interesting and the demonstration is convincing, thus would like to recommend publish their results after a few improvements:

(1) The author should clarify whether the phase pattern images in both Figure 4 and 5 are obtained experimentally or numerically. Because the phase singularity is the signature of the optical vortex and the associated spiral phase change determines the topological charge, if the phase pattern images are obtained numerically, I suggest the authors measure them experimentally or at least explain why they cannot obtain the phase patterns experimentally.

(2) It seems the authors directly copied the Charge Map and Vortex Geometry from the RPC Photonics website: https://www.rpcphotonics.com/product/vpp-m633/ and used in Figure 2b. Should the authors cite or reproduce those images by themselves for avoiding the copyright issue?

(3) I also suggest the authors add photos of those steel masks used and color bars to phase pattern images.

Reviewer 2 Report

The authors of the study demonstrate that a family of vortex-lattice structures can be flexibly generated by an approach of multi-beam interference. The manuscript is interesting and can be accepted for publication in its current form.

Reviewer 3 Report

The manuscript entitled Systemically investigating the structural variety of crystalline 2 and kaleidoscopic vortex lattices by using laser beam arrays from Chengshang Chen et al. presents an easy way to generate a family of vortex-lattice beam structures.

The work is clearly written. The calculations agree very well with the experiment.

Some English words should be corrected/modified. For instance, in line 14, Base should be Based. In line 42, ...laser is employing to illuminate.... should be employed. In line 67, At the limitation of...should be At the limit of. TIn line 73, numerical should be numerically. In line 77, ...which consistent... should be which are consistent. In line 146, low should be row.

As for the experimental setup, in line 99, the authors talk about the fabrication of several masks. Can the author explain why several masks and not only one?. Can the authors provide a slightly more information about the maks?. Maybe a new image as Figure 2c?

I suggest to change the word Systemically by Systematically in the title.

Response: We employed a laser stencil-cutting machine to precisely fabricate the metal masks with tiny circular holes regularly distributed on a ring, where the radii of the hole and the ring were 0.13 mm and 3.0 mm, respectively. According to reviewer’s comments, the photos of the metal masks are shown in Fig. 2(c).

Response: Thanks for reviewer’s comments. According to reviewer’s comments, we have corrected the title.
