Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

I enjoyed reading your well written and presented paper and hope that so will the journal's readers! It makes a contribution on the clinical implementation of a new technology, which is on its early days re getting clinical traction, but which could bring substantial improvements in the quality of radiotherapy treatments.

My comments are minor and aim to improve the overall presentation of your paper;

L180: state the location of the density overrides, as shown in Fig 5.

L208: Reference for MIMmaestro

L267: In my PC display the DD match with Sd40+iMAR is not so apparent; suggest changing different curve style as well as colours.

L281-283 & T3: Somewhat confusing, both in presentation and analysis; why isn't there any effect for the images with metal artefacts on QR40? Also the QR40 results... change Table or explain further; this is one of your significant findings and as such warrants clarification.

L472: define Sμ and dB

Appendix A; It will be good to see commentary on the atomic number dependence and its effect on the model and DD calibration curve.

General; there's an interchangeable use of the DD and Sd40 terms; better keep one for consistency and to avoid possible confusion.

Reviewer 2 Report

This paper studies the related applications of CT reconstruction, which is very interesting and meaningful, and worth publishing. In order to improve the quality of the paper, please consider the following suggestions,

1) Please put table S1 and S2 into the text.

2) The conclusion section needs quantitative data.

3) The number of references is relatively small, especially in the past three years.
