Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Authors target a good topic and did a nice work. Methodology is nicely described. However, the following points needs to clarify.

Authors should clarify the objectives as well as importance of present experiment in the beginning of the abstract.

Line 13 at the end of the experiment, we measured.

Line 24 Proline….proline

Line 28 A major environmental stress worldwide is salinity. Rewrite the sentence.

In the introduction, authors should more focus on the negative consequences of salt stress in plants.

Line 49-57 should be in one paragraph

In the results, it would be nice to compare the cultivar with each other by comparing their increasing or decreasing different (carbohydrates, porphyrin) values. The result section 3.3, 3.4, and 3.5 should more descriptive.

In the discussion authors should not compare only with previous literature. It’s essential to give assumption or hypothesis about the reduction or increment of compounds. For example, why carbohydrate concentration reduces by salinity?

Authors should more careful about typo and grammatical mistakes

Overall, the figure file is not satisfactory in resolution as well as in pattern.

Conclusion should be more precise and satisfactory.

Authors should also focuses on more recent references.

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript was to investigate the effect of salinity stress on the quality of pomegranate cvs such as proline accumulation and the degree of lipid peroxidation. However, there is no enough novelty of the manuscript, so the authors should address this point to revise the manuscript.

General comments,

1. Please check your English language throughout the manuscript, since some parts were not easy to read.

2. Please clarify the importance of your study.

3. In the methods, please add instrumental analysis method  such as HPLC for proline estimation; thus, it can improve the accurate results.
