Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript does not need to be improved.

Author Response

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you very much for your positive feedback!

Reviewer 2 Report

This manuscript analyzed the effects of vehicle on tire road noise. The topic is interesting and meaningful. My detailed comments are as follows.

(1)   The section of ‘Conclusion’ needs to be rewritten and simplified.

(2)   In fact, the difference of tire road noise is larger for asphalt pavement and cement concrete pavement. And also, the pavement surface texture and pavement structure air void have significant influence on tire road noise. But the relevant research is not shown in this paper.

(3)   Is the noise inside or outside the vehicle analyzed? For two kinds of noise, the evaluation method is different?

(4)   Tire texture is also the main factor to affect driving noise. In this paper, the impact of tire texture on noise analysis is not found.

Author Response

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you very much for your valuable feedback.

  1. We simplified more complex parts of the conclusion
  2. and 4. Even though these topics are highly interesting, they are not in the scope of this reseach. Nevertheless, we added some relevant literature on these topics.
  3. As you stated correctly, the methods to analyze exterieur and interieur noise differ. This research investigates exterieur noise.

Reviewer 3 Report

English needs to be improved and compilation errors corrected. Sometimes they use "we" while others the form is impersonal.
Introduction needs more references, specially with more recent references.
The purpose of this work and why it is original must be better explained.
The general outline of the development of this work must be explained.
It is not clear how a chapter follows another.
Line 190: p.172?
Miss some references (ie ISO 362 line 201, Boyd and Vanden line 205,..).
What are the conclusions of the work?

Author Response

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you very much for your valuable feedback.

We switched everything to impresonal speech.

As for the introduction, we provided some more literature on tire texture and road impact on tire/road noise. Nevertheless, we provided all, to us know, relevant literature dealing with the scope of the research.

We furthermore clarified the purpose as well as the general outline of the paper in the introduction.

The p.172 indicates a specific page of the cited literature which we decided to provide to make it easier for readers to find the relevant part of the book.

An overall conclusion is now provided and we checked the references once more.

Reviewer 4 Report

The authors presented the results of research on the impact of a vehicle and specific dynamic parameters on the noise emitted by a moving car. Due to the specific nature of the research, the authors do not focus on developing new computational, algorithmic, mathematical, process, or design methods. The main task of the research work is the noise measurements carried out for three different tires and five types of vehicles. The measurement process and the mathematical methods used are well described and justified. In this case, I congratulate the authors on their solid research work. The following comments and recommendations are complementary:

1. In the Introduction section, name the research problem to be solved that justifies the need for this type of research (motivation). Although the authors describe these issues, without a few keywords, the reader needs more time to find and understand the problem, purpose, subject, and object of research.

2. I recommend that you briefly define the research objective that corresponds to the problem being solved.

3. Novelties or original contributions are an important component that I did not find in the manuscript. The point is for the authors to write in one or more sentences what, in their opinion, is their original and innovative contribution to the current state of knowledge.

4. The text lacks explanations for some abbreviations, e.g., BEV, HEV.

Author Response

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you very much for your positive feedback.

1. and 2. We provided a clearer purpose of the research in the introduction and thereby also defined the research objective.

3.We added some information in the conclusion in form of an overall conclusion as well as a delimitation from literature.

4. We provided the according abbreviations.
