The comments on the Manuscript Number: Manuscript ID: applsci-3030842; Type of manuscript: Article; Title:

The paper describes the theoretical modeling of heat transfers at the edge of the drill. The questions needed to be amended for the positive evaluation of the paper:

·       The entire paper uses the ‘colling liquids’ and ‘colling lubricant’ terminology.  Are those the same? Table 1 provides water as the only option for them with some parameters. Any motivation for why the fluid with such parameters is more advantageous over other options (density, viscosity, thermal conductivity, etc)?

  • The choice of the drill material has to be discussed specifically in term of the thermal and pressure maps provided. How the stability of the material is maintained in contact with such overheated and overpressurized water?
  • What are your expected results of altering the drill's maximum temperature (e.g. lowering by a few permiles /percent/folds)? That is not clear from the thermal maps presented.
