Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This work is an integrated approach to the genetic factors involved in the process of wheat nitrogen uptake, assimilation, and remobilization. The scientific results of related works are sufficiently presented and explained while the authors managed to identify gaps in existing studies for potential future research. A few observations are listed below: The abstract needs to be improved because no reference is made to the conclusion of the literature review as well as any implications or future research that developed from the research presented. In section “Definitions of NUE and important traits associated with NUE”, please include the equations for N use-related traits. Some references are missing. It would be desirable if there were concluding remarks at the end of the text.

The manuscript is recommended for publication in this journal considering the above comments.
