Cover Story: The 31st International Scientific Conference on Modern Metallurgy (MM 2024) was held on 25–27 September 2024 in Chorzów, Poland. The conference focused on the production of iron and steel and non-ferrous metals, but also toon such currently urgent and topical issues as industrial energy and waste processing and recycling. This conference was related to the main task of the metal industry in the coming years, which is its decarbonization. Therefore, the main goal of this conference was to promote the exchange of knowledge, experience and presentation of the latest trends in the field of metallurgy. One of the undoubted advantages of the conference was the harmonious combination of knowledge from the scientific community with industrial practice.
