Dear Colleagues,
Biofilms, structured communities of microorganisms embedded in a self-produced extracellular matrix, are notorious for their resistance to conventional antimicrobial treatments. The presence of biofilms in medical, industrial, and environmental settings poses significant challenges, leading to persistent infections, equipment fouling, and contamination. This proposed Special Issue on“Antimicrobial Biofilm: Materials, Properties and Applications” seeks to explore the latest advancements in the development of novel materials and strategies designed to inhibit, disrupt, or eradicate biofilms. Contributions are invited that span a wide range of topics, including the design and synthesis of antimicrobial materials, surface modifications, nanotechnology approaches, and the mechanistic understanding of biofilm resistance. Additionally, studies that focus on the application of these materials in healthcare, food processing, water treatment, and other relevant industries are highly encouraged. This issue aims to provide a comprehensive platform for the discussion of emerging trends and innovative solutions in the battle against biofilm-associated problems.
