The Role of Catalysts in Hydrogen Production and Carbon Dioxide Valorization

Catalysis and photocatalysis are promising green technology techniques for chemical reactions. With rapid population growth and industrial evolution has come the consumption of a lot of energy resources. Consequently, non-renewable fuels will be diminished within a few decades. Besides this, the release of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide is another important factor contributing to global warming. Therefore, recent research and technologies are responsible for conserving the remaining fuel, reducing carbon dioxide, and finding solutions for capturing and producing emerging fuels. The current research into catalysis and photocatalysis is designing new materials that can capture and utilize carbon dioxide to produce renewable fuel. Another method being researched is producing hydrogen as a lightweight and clean energy source.

This Special Issue aims to illustrate the most recent and relevant advances concerning the role of catalysts and photocatalysts in hydrogen production and carbon dioxide utilization to be used as renewable fuels. This also includes the design, synthesis, and performance evaluation of these resources, as well as recyclability tests. Reviews and case studies about new carbon dioxide capture and utilization systems, as well as the full-colour mapping of hydrogen production, are welcomed. 

This Special Issue of the Catalysts journal aims to assemble articles provided by the best research groups worldwide, whereby readers will be able to find various articles and communications on the topic of “The Role of Catalysts in hydrogen production and carbon dioxide valorization”.

Manuscript Submission Information

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
