Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Endometrial cancer, the most common gynecologic malignancy, remains a significant global health concern despite advancements in diagnosis and treatment. Recent molecular and genetic insights, particularly from Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) data, have significantly enhanced our understanding of the disease's diverse biological subtypes and their prognostic implications. This has led to the development of the 2023 FIGO staging system, aimed at better defining prognostic groups and guiding appropriate therapeutic approaches. Another crucial advancement in endometrial cancer is fertility-sparing treatment. The 2023 ESGO/ESHRE/ESGE guidelines have emphasized the importance of preserving fertility for eligible patients, providing guidance on work-up, management, and follow-up. Finally, with the increasing number of endometrial cancer patients achieving long-term survival due to timely diagnosis and medical advancements, understanding post-treatment quality of life and sexual functioning becomes fundamental.

This Special Issue aims to highlight recent breakthroughs and emerging trends in the field of endometrial cancer research. By fostering a platform for the dissemination of novel findings, we aim to advance our understanding of the disease, improve patient outcomes, and inform future clinical practices.

In this Special Issue, we welcome original research articles and reviews that gather the latest scientific advancements on endometrial cancer. Research areas may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Etiology, risk factors, and early detection: Exploring the underlying causes and predisposing factors associated with endometrial cancer development and investigating innovative approaches for early diagnosis, including biomarker discovery and advanced imaging techniques.
  • Molecular profiling and targeted therapies: Characterizing the molecular landscape of endometrial cancer and exploring the potential of targeted treatments, including immunotherapy and immune checkpoint inhibitors.
  • Surgical management and fertility-sparing treatment: Discussing advancements in surgical techniques and exploring strategies for preserving fertility in women with endometrial cancer.
  • Quality of life and survivorship: Addressing the physical, psychological, and social challenges faced by patients with endometrial cancer, ensuring a comprehensive and supportive approach to care.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

Benefits of Publishing in a Special Issue

  • Ease of navigation: Grouping papers by topic helps scholars navigate broad scope journals more efficiently.
  • Greater discoverability: Special Issues support the reach and impact of scientific research. Articles in Special Issues are more discoverable and cited more frequently.
  • Expansion of research network: Special Issues facilitate connections among authors, fostering scientific collaborations.
  • External promotion: Articles in Special Issues are often promoted through the journal's social media, increasing their visibility.
  • e-Book format: Special Issues with more than 10 articles can be published as dedicated e-books, ensuring wide and rapid dissemination.
