Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue titled "AI-Based Medical Image Analysis: State-of-the-Art Techniques and Emerging Applications" will provide an in-depth overview of the latest advancements, challenges, and future prospects in the fields of medical imaging and artificial intelligence (AI). Due to the rapid progression of AI technologies, there has been a significant impact on medical imaging, revolutionizing the way healthcare professionals diagnose and treat various conditions.

The collection of articles within this Special Issue will present cutting-edge research and innovative applications of AI in medical imaging. It will cover a wide range of topics, including image analysis, computer-aided diagnosis and prognosis, image segmentation, synthetic image generation, deep learning algorithms, and image reconstruction techniques, highlighting the potential of AI to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and interpretation of medical images, leading to improved patient care and outcomes.

We will welcome contributions from leading researchers and practitioners that will shed light on the recent developments and highlight key challenges, such as data quality and interpretability in AI-driven medical imaging. There will be a focus on manuscripts that discuss the integration of AI algorithms into clinical workflows and the need for collaboration between computer scientists, radiologists, and other medical professionals.

The topics of interest for this Special Issue include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Medical imaging analysis;

- Computer-aided diagnosis and prognosis;

- AI-based segmentation techniques;

- Synthetic imaging and data augmentations;

- Interpretable AI in medical imaging;

- Image reconstruction;

- Deep learning and machine learning in medical imaging;

- Multi-Modal Imaging Integration.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Life is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
