Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to launch the first edition of the Special Issue of Life, titled "Microglia, Behavior, and Sex Differences: Neuroimmune Mechanisms in Development and Disease."
Microglia, the resident immune cells of the central nervous system, play essential roles not only in immune surveillance but also in shaping brain development, synaptic plasticity, and behavioral outcomes. In recent years, increasing evidence has shown that microglial function implicated in the pathophysiology of numerous neurological and psychiatric disorders, including autism spectrum disorders, depression, Alzheimer's disease, and multiple sclerosis.
This Special Issue aims to gather cutting-edge research that advances our understanding of microglial biology and its impact on neurodevelopment and disease, with a particular focus on behavioral outcomes and sex-specific mechanisms. We welcome original research articles and reviews addressing topics such as microglial ontogeny, sex hormones and neuroinflammation, behavioral consequences of microglial dysregulation, and the development of sex-specific therapeutic strategies.
We believe this Special Issue will serve as a valuable reference for researchers working in the fields of neuroimmunology, behavioral neuroscience, and neurodevelopment. We look forward to your contributions and to fostering interdisciplinary dialog in this dynamic area of research.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Life is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
