Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The field of oral medicine, positioned at the intersection of dentistry and broader medical disciplines, has undergone transformative advancements in recent years. These developments have significantly enhanced diagnostic accuracy, therapeutic efficacy, and our understanding of the intricate connections between oral and systemic health. The advent of salivary diagnostics allows for the non-invasive detection of conditions such as periodontal disease, oral cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular disorders, thus enabling earlier intervention and improved patient outcomes. In the realm of therapeutics, biologic agents like monoclonal antibodies have markedly improved the management of autoimmune conditions affecting the oral cavity. Furthermore, regenerative medicine techniques, including the use of stem cells and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), are pioneering new methods for tissue repair and regeneration.

This Special Issue aims to present cutting-edge research and advancements that enhance our understanding and treatment of oral health conditions. This Special Issue seeks to publish high-quality clinical studies that explore new diagnostic methods, therapeutic strategies, and the integration of oral health with systemic health. The scope includes, but is not limited to, innovations in salivary diagnostics, regenerative medicine, biologic therapies, and the role of oral health in managing systemic diseases. By highlighting interdisciplinary approaches and novel technologies such as telemedicine and AI-driven diagnostics, this Special Issue aspires to bridge gaps between research and clinical practice. Ultimately, it aims to foster a comprehensive understanding of oral medicine, promote improved patient outcomes, and encourage further research in this vital field of healthcare.

This Special Issue aims to encourage the publication of original research and review articles addressing novel diagnostic or therapeutic advances in oral medicine, as well as articles which broaden our understanding of the complex pathophysiological mechanisms behind the oral diseases.
