Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This call for papers aims to present to present the framework of gender diversity integrated in the entrepreneurial activities within the world of hospitality through the collection of comprehensive articles. These articles will be based on the introduction of new approaches, point of views, visions, methods, and the development of methodologies. Thus, the research path will fall into the development and verification of the role of gender diversity, i.e., the presentation of women, in the entrepreneurial leadership concept within the hospitality industry, followed by research and surveys related to women’s entrepreneurship, gender diversity, entrepreneurial activity, hospitality, and leadership.

Gender diversity mostly refers to the equitable and fair representation of both genders in the workplace. However, this concept is turning out to be more oriented toward the presence of women, in terms of being managers, leaders, and entrepreneurs; for instance, this point is starting to be integrated in many studies due to the fact that the role of women in societies has increased because of education, independence, and the tendency to travel more. Additionally, by being an entrepreneur, women will be contributing to the initiation and sustainability of the economic development of a country. Thus, entrepreneurs will be part of discovering new sources of supply, markets, and technology and develop new and more effective forms of organizations, as well as creating new opportunities and acting firmly and in self-control to reduce the resistance by social, cultural, political, and economic environments (Taylor, 2019; Zapalska and Brozik, 2014). Moreover, hospitality is a concept known for its presence in any service sector, such as tourism. Its main characteristics are friendliness, helpfulness, being welcoming, kindness, etc. that are needed for individuals to feel comfortable. Additionally, hospitality industries, such as the food and beverage industry, become part of the big change, certainly when women entrepreneurs’ appearance evolves into being of great, positive importance, specifically when acting as a catalyst for innovation, value creation, and social change (Novak, 2017; Doyle, 2019; Kimbu, 2016). This issue will request articles following interdisciplinary approaches, which vary with different elements, such as hospitality, leadership, gender diversity, entrepreneurship, etc. with the introduction of related examples. Thus, the aim is to establish and elaborate on the role of women entrepreneurs’ leadership in hospitality.
