Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
With the continuous growth of global energy demand and the depletion of fossil resources, sustainable energy plays an increasingly important role in world energy production and consumption. Taking wind power as an example, the new installed capacity of the global region reached 117 GW in 2023, setting a historical record.
With the development of the Energy Internet, an interconnected, intelligent, and efficient energy ecosystem is constructed to achieve the better coordination and optimization of energy production, transmission, distribution, and consumption by deeply integrating sustainable energy systems with information and communication technologies. However, this high degree of digitization and networking also brings many challenges to sustainable energy systems. Vulnerabilities such as fragile communication networks, incomplete and insecure data quality, and simple control protocols significantly increase the possibility of energy systems being affected by cyber threats, with potentially disastrous consequences. The intensified damage caused by these factors to the energy system, as well as the close connection between the energy system and the socio-economic system, are prompting research on the resilient and intelligent control and optimization of sustainable energy systems.
This Special Issue aims to provide a forum for all scholars to present their discoveries on technological developments in sustainable energy. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Modeling and analysis of sustainable energy delivery system;
- Intelligent load optimization and control of wind farms;
- Cyber resilience techniques for sustainable energy system;
- Intelligent fault detection and diagnosis of sustainable energy system;
- Cyberattack and adversarial attack on sustainable energy system;
- Machine learning-based control of the sustainable energy system;
- Distributed energy resource grid integration and control technology;
- Resilient frequency support control strategy for power system with high-level sustainable energy;
- Robust power prediction of sustainable energy generation system.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
