Passenger flow forecasting is crucial for optimizing urban transit operations, especially in developing countries such as India, where congestion, infrastructure constraints, and diverse commuter behaviors pose significant challenges. Despite its importance, limited research explored forecasting models for Indian urban transit systems, particularly incorporating the effects of holidays and disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. To address this gap, we propose TBATS Boosting, a novel hybrid forecasting model that integrates the statistical strengths of trigonometric, Box–Cox, ARMA, trend, and seasonal (TBATS) with the predictive power of LightGBM. The model is trained on a five-year real-world dataset from e-ticketing machines (ETM) in Thane Municipal Transport (TMT), incorporating holiday and pandemic-related variations. While Route 12 serves as a primary evaluation route, different station pairs are analyzed to validate their scalability across varying passenger demand levels. To comprehensively evaluate the proposed framework, a rigorous performance assessment was conducted using MAE, RMSE, MAPE, and WMAPE across station pairs characterized by heterogeneous passenger flow patterns. Empirical results demonstrate that the TBATS Boosting approach consistently outperforms benchmark models, including standalone SARIMA, TBATS, XGBoost, and LightGBM. By effectively capturing complex temporal dependencies, multiple seasonalities, and nonlinear relationships, the proposed framework significantly enhances forecasting accuracy. These advancements provide transit authorities with a robust tool for optimizing resource allocation, improving service reliability, and enabling data-driven decision making across varied and dynamic urban transit environments. Background: Tomatoes are self-pollinating plants, and successful fruit set depends on the production of functional pollen within the same flower. Our previous studies have shown that the ‘Black Vernissage’ tomato variety exhibits greater resilience to heat stress in terms of pollen productivity compared to the ‘Micro-Tom’ variety. Pollen productivity is determined by meiotic activity during microsporogenesis and the development of free microspores during gametogenesis. This study focused on identifying heat stress (HS)-induced proteomes in pollen mother cells (PMCs) and microspores. Methods: Tomato plants were grown under two temperature conditions: 26 °C (non-heat-treated control) and 37 °C (heat-treated). Homogeneous cell samples of meiotic PMCs (prior to the tetrad stage) and free microspores were collected using laser capture microdissection (LCM). The heat-induced proteomes were identified using tandem mass tag (TMT)–quantitative proteomics analysis. Results: The enrichment of the meiotic cell cycle in PMCs and the pre-mitotic process in free microspores confirmed the correlation between proteome expression and developmental stage. Under HS, PMCs in both tomato varieties were enriched with heat shock proteins (HSPs). However, the ‘Black Vernissage’ variety exhibited a greater diversity of HSP species and a higher level of enrichment compared to the ‘Micro-Tom’ variety. Additionally, several proteins involved in gene expression and protein translation were downregulated in PMCs and microspores of both varieties. In the PMC proteomes, the relative abundance of proteins showed no significant differences between the two varieties under normal conditions, with very few exceptions. However, HS induced significant differential expression both within and between the varieties. More importantly, these heat-induced differentially abundant proteins (DAPs) in PMCs are directly involved in meiotic cell division, including the meiosis-specific protein ASY3 (Solyc01g079080), the cell division protein kinase 2 (Solyc11g070140), COP9 signalosome complex subunit 1 (Solyc01g091650), the kinetochore protein ndc80 (Solyc01g104570), MORC family CW-type zinc finger 3 (Solyc02g084700), and several HSPs that function in protecting the fidelity of the meiotic processes, including the DNAJ chaperone (Solyc04g009770, Solyc05g055160), chaperone protein htpG (Solyc04g081570), and class I and class II HSPs. In the microspores, most of the HS-induced DAPs were consistently observed across both varieties, with only a few proteins showing significant differences between them under heat stress. These HS-induced DAPs include proteases, antioxidant proteins, and proteins related to cell wall remodeling and the generation of pollen exine. Conclusions: HS induced more dynamic proteomic changes in meiotic PMCs compared to microspores, and the inter-varietal differences in the PMC proteomes align with the effects of HS on pollen productivity observed in the two varieties. This research highlights the importance of the cell-type-specific proteomics approach in identifying the molecular mechanisms that are critical for the pollen developmental process under elevated temperature conditions. Virtual Reality (VR) is increasingly used in neuropsychological assessments due to its ability to simulate real-world environments. This study aimed to develop and evaluate the Trail Making Test in VR (TMT-VR) and investigate the effects of different interaction modes and gaming skills on cognitive performance. A total of 71 young female and male adults (aged 18–35) with high and low gaming skills participated in this study. Participants completed the TMT-VR using three interaction modes as follows: eye-tracking, head movement, and controller. Performance metrics included task completion time and accuracy. User experience, usability, and acceptability of TMT-VR were also examined. Results showed that both eye tracking and head movement modes significantly outperformed the controller in terms of task completion time and accuracy. No significant differences were found between eye tracking and head movement modes. Gaming skills did not significantly influence task performance using any interaction mode. The TMT-VR demonstrates high usability, acceptability, and user experience among participants. The findings suggest that VR-based assessments can effectively measure cognitive performance without being influenced by prior gaming skills, indicating potential applicability for diverse populations. Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance is a key indicator of a firm’s long-term value and competitiveness. This study combined internal management dynamics (TMT diversity and absorptive capacity) and external social responsibility (ESG) to provide a more holistic perspective that explores the relationship between ESG performance and corporate value at multiple levels. In this study, Chinese A-share listed companies from 2011 to 2022 were selected and analyzed using a quantitative approach. The findings are as follows: (1) There is a positive correlation between ESG performance and firm value. (2) This relationship is particularly accentuated within non-high-polluting industries, the eastern and middle region, and non-state-owned firms. (3) The age, gender, financial background, and absorptive capacity of TMTs significantly moderate the relationship between corporate ESG performance and firm value. These findings will help business leaders and policymakers understand how effective management and responsibility practices can drive long-term business success and social impact. These findings not only help academics deepen their theoretical constructs but also provide operational guidance for business practices. Full article

In the evolving landscape of corporate governance, the role of Top Management Teams (TMTs) has transcended traditional decision-making paradigms, becoming integral to the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). While the existing literature has identified general trends in TMT diversity, stability, and leadership styles, there is a lack of comprehensive analysis focusing on the interplay of these characteristics and their direct implications for CSR strategies. This study employs a literature review and bibliometric analysis of the existing literature up to 2023, utilizing the Scopus database to discern trends and patterns in the TMT–CSR relationship. Findings reveal that TMT characteristics, including diversity in gender, age, and professional background, significantly influence CSR strategies, enhancing organizations’ responsiveness to stakeholder needs. Notably, diverse TMTs demonstrate a greater capacity for developing comprehensive CSR initiatives, particularly when led by executives committed to sustainability and ethical practices. The analysis indicates a growing scholarly interest in this intersection, with a marked increase in publications over the past decade, highlighting the strategic importance of TMTs in shaping CSR outcomes. However, the identified research gaps suggest a need for further exploration of context-specific approaches, particularly in varying regional and industry settings, as well as longitudinal studies to capture the dynamic nature of TMT–CSR relationships over time. The pursuit of innovation and the motivation of personnel have long been crucial considerations for sustainable development of organizations. However, an insufficiently addressed issue lies in the optimization of managerial and employee motivation through compensation structures. Drawing on tournament theory and social comparison theory, this research investigates the influence of both the top management team (TMT) pay gap and the TMT-employee pay gap on firms’ innovation performance. Leveraging an empirical analysis of a longitudinal dataset comprising 2517 firms with 12,052 observations spanning from 2004 to 2020, this study reveals an inverted U-shaped relationship between the TMT team pay gap and firm innovation performance. Additionally, this effect is found to be significantly mitigated in firms characterized by highly homogeneous management teams. Furthermore, our investigation indicates that a wider pay gap between executives and employees positively correlates with improved firm innovation performance. The findings from this study contribute novel theoretical explanations and empirical evidence, offering valuable insights into the nuanced ways in which pay gaps impact innovation performance within distinct organizational contexts. A better system of incentives within organizations directly promotes the development of technological innovation, contributing to social progress, human harmony, and sustainable development. The Tsinghua University–Ma Huateng Telescopes for Survey (TMTS) started to monitor the LAMOST plates in 2020, leading to the discovery of numerous short-period eclipsing binaries, peculiar pulsators, flare stars, and other variable objects. Here, we present the uninterrupted light curves for a sample of 64 cataclysmic variables (CVs) observed/discovered using the TMTS during its first three-year observations, and we introduce new CVs and new light-variation periods (from known CVs) revealed through the TMTS observations. Thanks to the high-cadence observations of TMTS, diverse light variations, including superhumps, quasi-periodic oscillations, large-amplitude orbital modulations, and rotational modulations, are able to be detected in our CV samples, providing key observational clues for understanding the fast-developing physical processes in various CVs. All of these short-timescale light-curve features help further classify the subtypes of CV systems. We highlight the light-curve features observed in our CV sample and discuss further implications of minute-cadence light curves for CV identifications and classifications. Moreover, we examine the Hα emission lines in the spectra from our nonmagnetic CV samples (i.e., dwarf novae and nova-like subclasses) and find that the distribution of Hα emission strength shows significant differences between the sources with orbital periods above and below the period gap, which agrees with the trend seen from the SDSS nonmagnetic CV sample. Staphylococcus aureus and coagulase-negative staphylococci account for about 80% of infections associated with medical devices and are associated with increased virulence due to their ability to form biofilm. In this study, we aimed to construct a comprehensive reference map followed by significant pathway analysis in the proteome of S. aureus biofilm grown for 3 days compared with 24 h of planktonic culture using a high-resolution Tandem Mass Tag (TMT)-based MS. We identified proteins associated with secondary metabolites, ABC transporters, biosynthesis of amino acids, and response to stress, and amino sugar and nucleotide sugar metabolism were significantly upregulated in 3-day biofilm. In contrast, proteins associated with virulence factors, microbial metabolism in diverse environments, secondary metabolites, translation, and energy metabolism were significantly downregulated. GO functional annotation indicated that more proteins are involved in metabolic processes, catalytic activity, and binding in biofilm, respectively. Among the significantly dysregulated proteins, hyaluronidase (hysA) in conjunction with chitinase may play a significant role in the elimination and/or prevention of biofilm development. This study advances the understanding of the S. aureus subproteome, identifying potential pathways significant to biofilm biology. The insights gained may aid in developing new therapeutic strategies, including antibiofilm agents, for treating biofilm-related infections associated with implantable medical devices. Full article

Keteleeria davidiana var. calcarea is an endangered plant endemic to China. It is mainly distributed in the karst areas of the Guangxi and Guizhou Provinces. It is characterized by small populations and intermittent distribution. This study aimed to explore the genetic diversity and mating system of wild populations of Keteleeria davidiana var. calcarea in fragmented habitats. To achieve this, we genotyped 46 maternal trees and 214 progenies from four fragmented populations of Keteleeria davidiana var. calcarea using nine pairs of microsatellite primers. The genetic diversity of Keteleeria davidiana var. calcarea (Ho = 0.68, He = 0.63) was lower than that of the species overall but higher than that of other Keteleeria plants. The incidence of unbiased expected heterozygosity (uHe) and allelic richness (Ar) was higher in the maternal generation than in the progeny. This suggests that the genetic diversity of the progeny was lower than that of the maternal generation. Keteleeria davidiana var. calcarea is divided into four populations, but there is significant genetic exchange between the populations according to STRUCTURE and gene flow analyses. The multilocus mating system analysis (MLTR) results indicate that the multilocus outcrossing rate (tm) was 0.902, the single-locus outcrossing rate (ts) was 0.606, the bimaternal inbreeding coefficient (tm-ts) was 0.295, and the coefficient of inbreeding depression(δ) was 0.904. These results suggest a certain degree of selfing and inbreeding in Keteleeria davidiana var. calcarea. To prevent problems associated with inbreeding and conserve the genetic diversity of Keteleeria davidiana var. calcarea, we recommend establishing seed gardens, using artificial pollination, and employing asexual propagation techniques for conservation intervention. Healthy dietary patterns rich in flavonoids may benefit cognitive performance over time. Among socioeconomically disadvantaged groups, the association between flavonoid intake and measures of cognition is unclear. This study sought to identify associations between flavonoid intake and cognitive performance among Healthy Aging in Neighborhoods of Diversity across the Life Span (HANDLS) study participants (n = 1947) across three study visits. Flavonoid intakes were assessed via two 24-h dietary recalls. Cognitive performance was assessed via the Trail Making Test (TMT)-A and TMT-B, which provide measures of attention and executive function, respectively. Mixed effects linear regression was used to model TMT scores over three study visits against visit 1 (v1) flavonoid intake, time (years from v1), and the interaction between v1 flavonoid intake and time, capturing both the cross-sectional association between flavonoid intake and time at v1 as well as the longitudinal association between v1 flavonoid intake and the change in TMT scores over time. Prior to adjustment, inverse cross-sectional associations at v1 were observed between (1) anthocyanidin intake and TMT-A scores for the overall sample and (2) total flavonoid, anthocyanidin, flavan-3-ol, flavone, and flavonol intake and TMT-B scores for the overall sample and among White adults. Only the association between anthocyanidin intake and TMT-B at v1 among White adults persisted after adjustment (for demographic characteristics such as age). One possible explanation for the few significant associations is universally low flavonoid intakes resulting from the consumption of an unhealthy dietary pattern. Full article

Gamma-tocopherol methyltransferase (γ-TMT), a key gene in the vitamin E biosynthesis pathway, significantly influences the accumulation of tocochromanols, thereby determining rice nutritional quality. In our study, we analyzed the γ-TMT gene in 475 Korean rice accessions, uncovering 177 genetic variants, including 138 SNPs and 39 InDels. Notably, two functional SNPs, tmt-E2-28,895,665-G/A and tmt-E4-28,896,689-A/G, were identified, causing substitutions from valine to isoleucine and arginine to glycine, respectively, across 93 accessions. A positive Tajima’s D value in the indica group suggests a signature of balancing selection. Haplotype analysis revealed 27 haplotypes, with two shared between cultivated and wild accessions, seven specific to cultivated accessions, and 18 unique to wild types. Further, profiling of vitamin E isomers in 240 accessions and their association with haplotypes revealed that Hap_2, distinguished by an SNP in the 3′ UTR (tmt-3UTR-28,897,360-T/A) exhibited significantly lower α-tocopherol (AT), α-tocotrienol (AT3), total tocopherol, and total tocotrienol, but higher γ-tocopherol (GT) in the japonica group. Additionally, in the indica group, Hap_2 showed significantly higher AT, AT3, and total tocopherol, along with lower GT and γ-tocotrienol, compared to Hap_19, Hap_20, and Hap_21. Overall, this study highlights the genetic landscape of γ-TMT and provides a valuable genetic resource for haplotype-based breeding programs aimed at enhancing nutritional profiles. Full article

The Trail Making Test (TMT) is one of the most commonly administered tests in clinical and research neuropsychological settings. The two parts of the test (part A (TMT-A) and part B (TMT-B)) enable the evaluation of visuoperceptual tracking and processing speed (TMT-A), as well as divided attention, set-shifting and cognitive flexibility (TMT-B). The main cognitive processes that are assessed using TMT, i.e., processing speed, divided attention, and cognitive flexibility, are often affected in patients with stroke. Considering the wide use of TMT in research and clinical settings since its introduction in neuropsychological practice, the purpose of our review was to provide a comprehensive overview of the use of TMT in stroke patients. We present the most representative studies assessing processing speed and attentional shift/mental flexibility in stroke settings using TMT and applying scoring methods relying on conventional TMT scores (e.g., time-to-complete part A and part B), as well as derived measures (e.g., TMT-(B-A) difference score, TMT-(B/A) ratio score, errors in part A and part B). We summarize the cognitive processes commonly associated with TMT performance in stroke patients (e.g., executive functions), lesion characteristics and neuroanatomical underpinning of TMT performance post-stroke, the association between TMT performance and patients’ instrumental activities of daily living, motor difficulties, speech difficulties, and mood statue, as well as their driving ability. We also highlight how TMT can serve as an objective marker of post-stroke cognitive recovery following the implementation of interventions. Our comprehensive review underscores that the TMT stands as an invaluable asset in the stroke assessment toolkit, contributing nuanced insights into diverse cognitive, functional, and emotional dimensions. As research progresses, continued exploration of the TMT potential across these domains is encouraged, fostering a deeper comprehension of post-stroke dynamics and enhancing patient-centered care across hospitals, rehabilitation centers, research institutions, and community health settings. Its integration into both research and clinical practice reaffirms TMT status as an indispensable instrument in stroke-related evaluations, enabling holistic insights that extend beyond traditional neurological assessments. Initial Temporal Muscle Thickness and Area: Poor Predictors of Neurological Outcome in Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage in a Central European Patient Cohort

The temporalis muscle area (TMA) has been proclaimed as a surrogate parameter for estimating skeletal muscle mass. Pilot studies in Asian populations suggested temporal muscle thickness (TMT) and TMA as prognostic factors for neurological outcomes in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) patients. This study aimed to validate these findings in a larger European patient cohort. We retrospectively analyzed age, sex, aneurysm location, treatment, World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS) grade, Fisher score, and modified Rankin Score (mRS) at six months in patients with aSAH. TMT and TMA measurements were obtained from initial native CT scans. Logistic regression with the dichotomized six-month mRS as the outcome incorporating TMT, weighted average of TMT, or TMA as predictors was performed. Of the included 478 patients, 66% were female, the mean age was 56, and 48% of patients had an mRS of three to six after six months. The mean TMT at the level of the Sylvian fissure was 5.9 (±1.7) mm in males and 4.8 (±1.8) mm in females. The mean TMA was 234.5 (±107.9) mm2 in females and 380 (±134.1) mm2 in males. WFNS grade (p < 0.001), Fisher score (p < 0.001), and age (p < 0.05) correlated significantly with the mRS after six months. No correlation was found between mRS after six months and the TMT at the Sylvian fissure (p = 0.3), the weighted average of TMT (p = 0.1), or the TMA (p = 0.1). In this central European patient cohort of 478 individuals, no significant associations were found between TMT/TMA and neurological outcomes following aSAH. Further prospective studies in diverse patient populations are necessary to determine the prognostic value of TMA and TMT in aSAH patients. Full article

Prior studies have suggested that a large pay gap within the top management team (TMT) can motivate executives to outperform each other and that such competition consequently enhances productivity. We argue that a high pay disparity elicits managerial negative efforts and promotes bribery activities, but this effect can be mitigated by demographic diversity in the TMT and also can be affected by the characteristics of the CEO–TMT demographic interface. Using a sample of listed Chinese firms, our empirical results show that pay disparity is positively associated with bribery expenditure and this association derives mainly from the vertical component when pay disparity is examined via its vertical and horizontal components. In addition, we found that the positive relationship between pay disparity and bribery is weakened when the non-CEO executives have diverse demographic characteristics, and it is strengthened if the CEO is demographically similar to the other executives. This study contributes to the literature on corruption and TMTs by revealing the implications of managerial incentives for firm bribery and by elucidating the role of TMT composition. Full article

Pasture dieback is a syndrome of unknown cause affecting grasses in Australia, creating significant economic losses to farmers by reducing available livestock feed and paddock carrying capacity. RC3 is a commercial plant growth stimulant tri-sodium salt of trimercapto-S-triazine (TMT) and potassium humate as active ingredients. TMT is commonly used for soil and wastewater remediation by capturing and binding heavy metals, while potassium humate is an organic compound used as a plant growth promoter. We investigated the ability of RC3 to restore soil health and productivity under pasture dieback conditions. RC3 was applied on pasture dieback affected paddock replicate plots once, at a rate of 4 mL/m2, and soil core samples were taken weekly to analyse microbial communities. Plants were collected regularly to measure dry matter and plant morphometrics. Twenty weeks after a single application, dry matter increased in RC3 plots by 900 kg/ha compared to control plots, and at week 48, eleven months after the single application, RC3 plots showed a trend of more grass and dicot species than the control. Morphometric measures suggest minor improvements in dicotyledon plants. Alpha diversity did not change with the application of RC3. Temporal correlation analysis shows that RC3 steadily reduced the presence of genera predominant in poor soils and with extreme environmental conditions over time and prevented the decline of beneficial genera, such as Marmoricola, Actinomadura, Dactylosporangium, and mle1-7.
