Cover Story: This systematic review discusses how metabolic alterations cause a favorable environment for tumor progression and inflammatory state that predisposes to vascular disease and aggressive prostate cancer. Therefore, a careful evaluation of cardiovascular risk factors should be carried out from the initial diagnosis of prostate cancer to discover new markers for aggressive prostate cancer and, more importantly, to identify novel personalized integrative therapies targeting critical metabolic changes that sustain the proliferation, migration, and invasion of prostate cancer.
