Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This manuscript reported three different heterocyclic amines, namely sodium sulfacyl, clonidine, and cyanocobalamin. When these heterocyclic amines were deposited on four types of carbon-on-paper substrates by the self-organization assembly method, their effect on morphology was researched in detail. This paper is well written and organized. However, this paper can be accepted after some minor revisions as follows:

1.        There were some formatting problems in the manuscript, such as commas in numbers should be replaced with dots; FIG. 5a, 5b and 6a, 6b are not clearly marked; all the image used should be reformatted and aligned.

2.        Why the CVCs of 10 minutes deposited sulfacyl sodium on carbon substrate 3 or 4 in the dark and under illumination; and DS of CVC not be shown? Author should give a proper explanation.

3.        Why the author used heterocyclic amines? What are the characteristics and advantages of this substance, the author should give a description in the introduction section.

4.        The authors should analyze the reasons for the differences in the effects of these three heterocyclic amines on morphology in detail.

Author Response

  1. There were some formatting problems in the manuscript, such as commas in numbers should be replaced with dots; FIG. 5a, 5b and 6a, 6b are not clearly marked; all the image used should be reformatted and aligned.

Answer: We made appropriate changes in Figs 5 and 6.

  1. Why the CVCs of 10 minutes deposited sulfacyl sodium on carbon substrate 3 or 4 in the dark and under illumination; and DS of CVC not be shown? Author should give a proper explanation.

Answer:  The behavior of CVCs of 10 minutes deposited sulfacyl sodium on carbon substrate 3 or 4 in the dark and under illumination are similar to substrate 1. The differences in CVCs are shown in Table 3. We introduces a little explanation in the text of the article.

3.Why the author used heterocyclic amines? What are the characteristics and advantages of this substance, the author should give a description in the introduction section.

Answer: We add explanation in Introduction.

4.The authors should analyze the reasons for the differences in the effects of these three heterocyclic amines on morphology in detail.

Answer: We add some arguments about the differences in the influence of these three heterocyclic amines on formation of morphology.

Reviewer 2 Report

1)      What is unit m cm?

2)      Page 5, line 148: It would be appropriate to provide a sketch of the designed solar cell and provide the dimensions including electroconducting painted comb type contact.

3)      How was the measurement of the current-voltage characteristics made?

4)      Was the generated energy from solar cells measured?

Author Response

  • What is unit m cm?

Answer: this is micrometer, we have made appropriate changes in Figures 3-5 (former Figures 2-4).

  • Page 5, line 148: It would be appropriate to provide a sketch of the designed solar cell and provide the dimensions including electroconducting painted comb type contact.

Answer: We have introduced a new Figure 2 and shown the corresponding dimensions.

  • How was the measurement of the current-voltage characteristics made?

Answer: In the tester control program, the measurement range (0.01 V – 5.0 V), the measurement time (150 mS) and the variable measurement steps (1; 1.5; 2; 3; 4, 5; 6; 8) in each voltage decade were set.

4)  Was the generated energy from solar cells measured?

Answer: no, the generated energy from the solar cells was not measured.
