10th Anniversary
The year 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of Fermentation, a peer-reviewed open access journal on all research areas of fermentation related to new and emerging products, processes, and technologies including biopharmaceuticals and biotech drugs. With an Impact Factor of 3.3 and CiteScore of 3.8, the journal is indexed within Scopus, SCIE (Web of Science), PubAg, FSTA, Inspec, CAPlus/SciFinder, and other databases. The journal has published more than 3000 papers from more than 18000 authors. More than 4300 reviewers have reviewed papers for the journal at least once. We equally value the contributions made by our editors, authors, and reviewers.
In honor of the journal’s 10th anniversary, we are reflecting on our past accomplishments and embarking on an exciting new chapter. We invite you to join us in celebrating this milestone for our journal and explore the content we have prepared for you below.
Journal History

The inaugural issue was released. Fermentation was published as a quarterly journal.
Dr. Badal C. Saha was appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of Fermentation.
Fermentation was indexed in BIOSIS Previews—Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics).
Fermentation was indexed in Chemical Abstracts (CAS).
Fermentation was indexed in DOAJ.
Fermentation announced the first edition of the Travel awards.
Fermentation was indexed in Inspec (IET).
Fermentation was indexed in Scopus (Elsevier), starting with Volume 1 (Issue 1).

Fermentation was indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE)—Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics), starting with Volume 3 (Issue 1).

Fermentation received its first Impact Factor (3.975).
Fermentation established the following sections:
- Microbial Metabolism, Physiology & Genetics;
- Fermentation Process Design;
- Fermentation for Food and Beverages;
- Industrial Fermentation.
Fermentation received its 2021 Impact Factor (5.123).
Prof. Dr. Thaddeus Ezeji was Appointed Section Editor-in-Chief of the Section “Fermentation Process Design” in Fermentation.
Prof. Dr. Miguel Ladero was Appointed Associate Editor of the Section “Fermentation Process Design” in Fermentation.
