Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Physical activity fitness is a major marker associated with health risks and mortality rates. Epidemiological studies consistently reveal that cardiorespiratory fitness, muscle strength and physical activity are independent factors that modulate and favor health outcomes. For example, higher physical fitness is associated with a lower risk of all-cause cancer and cardiovascular disease mortality among both normal and clinical populations. Currently, it is well-established that physical activity should be integrated into clinical practice and healthcare models, aiming to mitigate cardiovascular, metabolic, neurological, and musculoskeletal disease risk factors, among others. Despite this consolidated evidence, research on specific topics is still needed. For example, research about the effectiveness of individualization of training protocols based on clinical conditions or physical assessments is still needed. Additionally, identifying minimum effective dose pending covariables is still important to adjust the training prescription to different contexts. Other examples such as research that aims to understand how concurrent factors, such as daily life habits (e.g., working conditions; nutrition), can interact with exercise (e.g., combined exercise, different modes and types of exercise) should be also improved to benefit the academic and practitioners community. For these reasons, this Special Issue invites colleagues to submit high-quality original and review articles. No restriction to study designs is imposed. Any quality and significant contribution to the research community is welcome.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2500 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
