Changes in Intelligence Across the Lifespan

A section of Journal of Intelligence (ISSN 2079-3200).

Section Information

The study of cognitive aging is one of the main pillars of research in this section. This involves studies associated with the development of intelligence and critical thinking from childhood to adulthood, as well as the degeneration of mental capacity going into old age. Developmental theories of intelligence often discuss the influence of genetics and the environment on cognitive ability. Theories of cognitive aging cover longitudinal changes to decision-making, memory, and processing speed due to age. Development and Aging are already represented in the JoI’s aims and scope under Intellectual Development and Intelligence and Aging.
