Dear Colleagues,
Cosmeceuticals are cosmetic products developed to have a beneficial action on the skin, sometimes considered therapeutic. The term is the result of the fusion of the words cosmetic and pharmaceutical. Although the term is not formally recognized, it has been widely used in academia and the market. Cosmeceuticals are also bioactive molecules with drug-like benefits, and they act at relatively deep levels of the epidermis to allow for hydration, depigmentation, enzymatic inhibition or activation, acne control, and the modulation of cell proliferation and migration, among other effects. Several scientific and technological advances have taken cosmeceuticals to another level, but without a doubt, one of the most important in the last decade is that of nanotechnology. Various nanosystems have been a platform for the rational design of new cosmeceutical forms, as this technology has allowed for the active or passive vectorization of active ingredients and time-adjusted release profiles in the skin and its annexes with superior cosmetic benefits.
This Special Issue will focus on recent advances in the controlled delivery of cosmeceuticals based on nanotechnological platforms.

Pharmaceutics is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
