Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Transportation systems are integral to the development of societies, playing a major role on a socio-economic level. However, although the transport sector possesses a vital role, this does not negate the existence of problems caused by this sector. In and around most big cities, the capacities of the existing road networks are often saturated or even exceeded. An immediate consequence of this is the appearance of enormous problems, congestion being the most influential. This can have negative impacts on society and the environment, such as the loss of time, increased fuel consumption, automobile exhaust pollution, increased product prices, etc. Improving travel efficiency by reducing congestion is tantamount to boosting both production and consumption. One of the best strategies to improve the quality of transport in cities is sustainability in traffic management. Therefore, this Special Issue invites researchers to exchange their experiences and research results on sustainable traffic management and policy planning in relation to city development. High-quality research contributions describing original and unpublished results are cordially invited. This will bring huge benefits to scholars in the field, and provide the opportunity to share and read the latest advances in sustainable traffic management and policy planning in relation to city development.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

The analysis of the behavior of lithium-ion batteries has gained considerable interest in recent years. There are different alternatives for the analysis of this behavior; however, depending on the type of modeling, there are application and optimization restrictions. In this work, a hybrid model has been made that is capable of predicting the characteristics of a lithium-ion battery. As a novelty, the simplification, at the same time, facilitates the sampling of parameters for their prompt selection for optimization. A new model open to the user is proposed, which has proven to be efficient in simulation time. For example, one hour simulates it in 5 min, providing information detailing how these parameters, State of Health (SOH), Open Circuit Voltage (VOC), State of charge (SOC), and Number of charge and discharge cycles, in the face of temperature variations and charge and discharge cycles. Opening the possibility of optimizing the parameters with different techniques to estimate the performance and dynamics in the face of temperature change and charge and discharge cycles. A model based on linear regressions, manufacturer characteristics, and integrating equations in the electrical model of electrochemical phenomena is proposed. Full article
