Advances in Biomass and Bioenergy
Topic Information
Dear Colleagues,
Biomass plays a key role in the development of renewable and sustainable energy systems. With growing global energy demand and the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, there is an increasing requirement for efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly bioenergy technologies. Significant progress has been made in areas such as the thermochemical, biochemical, and catalytic conversion of biomass, as well as in the production of advanced biofuels, biogas, and biohydrogen. However, many challenges remain in terms of feedstock availability, process optimization, large-scale implementation, and the integration of biomass into circular economy frameworks.
This Topic is dedicated to disseminating innovative research and regarding the practical applications of biomass utilization for energy. We welcome contributions in, but not limited to, the following areas of research:
- Thermochemical, biochemical, and catalytic processes for biomass conversion;
- Development of advanced biofuels and biohydrogen;
- Novel biomass feedstocks and pretreatment strategies;
- Integration of bioenergy with other renewable systems.

Preprints.org is a multidisciplinary platform offering a preprint service designed to facilitate the early sharing of your research. It supports and empowers your research journey from the very beginning.
MDPI Topics is collaborating with Preprints.org and has established a direct connection between MDPI journals and the platform. Authors are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity by posting their preprints at Preprints.org prior to publication:
- Share your research immediately: disseminate your ideas prior to publication and establish priority for your work.
- Safeguard your intellectual contribution: Protect your ideas with a time-stamped preprint that serves as proof of your research timeline.
- Boost visibility and impact: Increase the reach and influence of your research by making it accessible to a global audience.
- Gain early feedback: Receive valuable input and insights from peers before submitting to a journal.
- Ensure broad indexing: Web of Science (Preprint Citation Index), Google Scholar, Crossref, SHARE, PrePubMed, Scilit and Europe PMC.
