Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Urinary infections, including cystitis, pyelonephritis, and other urinary tract infections (UTIs), represent a significant public health concern, affecting millions globally. These infections are predominantly caused by bacterial pathogens such as Escherichia coli. Their prevalence is influenced by a variety of factors, including personal hygiene practices, sexual activity, and underlying health conditions. UTIs are notably more common in women due to anatomical predispositions, but they also pose substantial health risks to men, particularly in the elderly population.

The cornerstone of UTI treatment is antibiotic therapy, with a spectrum of antimicrobial agents available to target specific bacterial strains. However, the escalating issue of antibiotic resistance is complicating the management of these infections, necessitating the exploration of alternative therapeutic strategies. Current research is increasingly focusing on adjunctive therapies such as probiotics, herbal medicine, and immunotherapeutics to both prevent and treat urinary infections.

This Special Issue of the Journal of Clinical Medicine is dedicated to presenting cutting-edge research and developments in the field of urinary infection management. We invite submissions that offer novel insights into therapeutic innovations, address the challenges posed by antibiotic resistance, and highlight advancements in diagnostic technologies.
